VC's spend their entire career dreaming about the big one and once in a blue moon it actually occurs (usually involving a lot of collective hype).
Quote from a news source a few days ago;
"Launched two years ago, Skype has raised $24 million since its inception from several private equity firms including Mangrove Capital Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Bessemer Venture Partners and Index Ventures. Zennstrom (Skype CEO), in May, expected Skype to be cash flow positive this year."
So in little over two years $24M invested in a company just getting to break-even with competition sprouting all over, might be turned into $2.6B and ultimately close to $4B (with earn-out) based on the eBay offer. Amazing.
