Small town school referendum

You state the town has 350 residents. - Is this adult/eligible voters? Or does it include minor age children?

You state the school has 585 students enrolled. So obviously the school district is larger than the town. How many residents in the school district?

My home is in one of the largest school districts in the nation. (San Diego Unified). But the district boundaries are NOT the same as the city of San Diego boundaries. There are two sections in the north of the city that are in different districts. Much of Carmel Valley neighborhood is in the city - but is in the Carmel Valley school District. Much of Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood, but is in the Poway Unified school district. Despite being residents of the city, their school tax portion of the property taxes are based on their school district.

I vote for school bond issues when they make sense... I've voted for upgrades for earthquake retrofit. I've voted to expand primary education funding. (Smaller class sizes). But I did not vote for ones that did not improve or mitigate things in the district. Like several people stated, I find value in having a well educated population. I am more than willing to fund this through taxes.

This proposition sounds like one I would vote against... But perhaps there is more to it than we know... Major new subdivision going in with 100's of homes? (which would expand the tax base) Dangerous building conditions at the k-12 school? (Asbestos, no insulation, or that type of thing.) If the fields proposed will work as parks in a joint use program that could benefit all the residents. (My city/district has done joint use to build pools on school land for swim teams, but available to the community on weekends and evenings.)
