Our home is only 5 years old with 2 bathrooms, the master bath has a huge tiled shower and we don't use except during the summer due to cold.
So I start the winter research and draft out standalone soaker jetted tubs and expensive stand alone large shower units, heating floors, heating towel bars.
Most of the work I can do. When I asked my phone it says she is not excited because of the money and/or the dust.

We have the money. We dont use it now and if we remodel we will have multiple rooms available.
Dust will be isolated by temporary enclosure. I am very concerned, I have a great history of home projects turning out great.

I am going to take the $ either way and spend it- ON A SPORTS CAR

Wacha Think?

Huge cast-iron tub in a luxury bathroom (no dirty jets).

The car sounds like a spite/revenge purchase. It sounds like you are a bit wounded because you had an idea for something you thought she would like, and she turned it down.

Understandable, but if I said no to some idea from DH, and he went "well then I'm gonna blow $50k on a car for me, just because" I'd be "very concerned" to use your words.

Similarly, if I proposed some project to DH, and he declined, and I said "ok more diamonds for me!" that would be...not conducive to a happy marriage.

You ASKED YOUR PHONE what your wife wants:confused: Eh?

We just heat up the bathroom before showering, primarily to prevent moisture problems but it also makes showering more pleasant in cooler weather. A portable ceramic heater placed on the countertop and run for a half-hour to an hour. Of course, our bathroom is what used to be considered normal sized.

I have heated floors in all three bathrooms. DIY, wife helped.
They get more use than a sports car would.

Does she not want the remodel at all or just parts of it?
Because I wouldn’t want a bathtub. Waste of space as far as I’m concerned.
I also think a sports car is a waste though. Never have liked them.

I knew a guy that did kitchens and baths. He said when he went to make his sales pitch, he would look for a new sports car in the driveway. If there was one, he knew that the husband had got his and now the wife was getting hers.

It sounds like you might have done other home improvement projects. What was your wife's position prior and after those projects? My DW always says we don't need to do the various projects I want completed to improve the house prior to the work. However, after the projects are completed she really likes them and is glad we did them. I guess, I just don't listen to my DW and do them anyway. My DW also know I usually won't listen and seems OK with it. Of course, every situation is different.

When we demolished and rebuilt the summer home, which was going to be year-round at the time that we rebuilt it, DW insisted on a jetted tub in the downstairs/guest bathroom. $3k just for the tub in 2011 as I recall... plus different fixtures to fill it, etc. If it has been used 10 times since it was put in I would be surprised.

We also sprung for attic trusses above the master bedroom as well as coax and power in the attic and she claimed that wshe would use it as a sewing room. Then she decided that the space was too small it was going to be awkward to go up and down even if we put in a spiral staircase that I knew we didn't really have room for. It's a decent storage space, but that's about it.:facepalm:

You gotta pick your battles carefully.

I like the new bath! I can buy a nice sports car anytime.
