SpaceX IPO coming in mid to late 2026

Starlink has a use and is profitable but I don't see how the rest of SpaceX becomes profitable enough for it to be a good investment. I would have to have massive amounts of discretionary money to even consider investing in SpaceX. I'm going to pass

I like to gamble so I went ahead and bought-in about 30 minutes ago. Interesting, Schwab would not let me place a "market order", it had to be a "limit order".

I have an Occupy Mars t-shirt. That’d good enough for me at the moment.

Presumably UAL and Blue Origin will get their rockets worked more reliably. And Airianespace will figure out that continuing to make one use rockets is not a good way to keep people employed. Then SpaceX will have more real competition. However, if a fully reusable starship rocket gets itself working as designed, that will be a whole new ballgame.

You're probably right. I just never do it and I'll stick to that method. I once got fooled by placing a "stop limit" order back when I was green and didn't even realize exactly what that meant.

I looked at the trading range and the highs/lows before I tired to buy. The difference between my intended market order and my limit order was 9 cents/share, as best as I can tell.

But it is a small portion of the total shares outstanding. Pretty low float actually.

I bought starter spec positions in ira accts for myself, dw, dd, and grandkids. Testing the waters so to speak. Nothing that will hurt if it goes down a bit, when where I might by some more for the longer term.

The trading volume should be compared with the float, not the total number of shares that the company has yet to sell. IPOs are always like that, in order to create a sense of scarcity for early buyers to bid it up. Once the excitement is generated, they will release and hopefully sell at higher prices than at IPO.

For comparison, MU has 1.1 billion float shares. Its daily trading volume is 50 million shares or less than 5%/day.

I was to confirm my order for 75 shares via Fidelity but I was getting lost on where I had to do that. I couldn't spend the time figuring it out as I was on an important date with a lady and didn't want to mess that up so I lost out. That cost me about 2K in gains but I think I got the better deal by ending the night with a first kiss! I'd say that was a good trade.

Considering the CPI, $2,000 for a kiss is probably within ballpark for going rates. Been awhile since I have priced that market.

I read that Fidelity did allocate (part or whole) to every customer that put in a confirmed request. Did you log in to confirm yesterday evening? Schwab also had a similar confirmation requirement.
