So, I am looking to upgrade my tablet... I have a Samsung 8 inch TAB A (2017)... it works just fine and I would love to keep it BUT...

It only has 16GB and I have very few apps but it is full... get warnings off and on and sometimes I cannot update a large app without removing some...

So, for a BTD moment I would like to get something that has more capacity... like 256GB...

I would like to keep the 8 inch screen as I like the smaller version...
I do not want an Apple..
I do not need phone... just wi-fi...
Do not care at all about the camera, but a nice one would be good..

Just started to look and I do not see anything like this... might be missing things though...

Suggestions?

Go to the Samsung website and look at their current offering. Pick what you like.

Can you add a micro sd card and move some apps to it to free up space?

Samsung Galaxy A9 (not the +) has an 8.7” screen and a micro sdxc card slot to add memory. 64GB base model and add an sdxc 256GB memory card. All in, you should be less than $150.

As with most Android-based tablets, be wary that OS/patching support for a given model doesn’t last more than a few years. Once a device no longer gets updated security patches, use at your own risk.

I have the same Samsung 8 inch TAB A (but 2019) and like it a lot -- I bought it refurbished last year after the 2014 model became unreliable. Around Black Friday, Amazon had the 10-inch one for $75 so I ordered one. I haven't opened it and will probably return it. I can tell by holding it (while sitting up in bed, which is where I use it most often) that it's not as comfortable. The taller height causes more torque on my wrists, even though it's only 120g heavier. I thought I might find a home for it under a kitchen cabinet as a recipe prompter or some such, but I just can't work up the enthusiasm for finding "a problem to match my solution."

It's using 1.4 Gb out of 2.0, and about 30 of 32 Gb internal storage -- 18 on apps, 9.5 on "system". I have almost 100 apps, of which the OS says 32 are "unused."

Hmm, I see now that the 10-inch new one is selling for $122, and a "renewed" one just like my 8 is $75 (or $150 new). Somehow, having saved $47 on the new one is pushing me to keep it. How strange. Apparently the Tab A7 and Tab A 10.1 can be ordered with 64Gb, but not the TAB A 8.0

I have to remind myself that the IBM 360/65 I used in 1968 was less powerful than these things.

I do have the micro on my phone... no apps seem to go there... it seems to only put pics and files there...

I wish that I could!!

Yea, my DW has the larger Apple and I do not like the size or weight when playing games before bed... the 8 inch seems perfect for me...

If I could get apps on the card it would be perfect...

bTW, my old tablet is really slow data transfer... a new one I think would be much faster... our wifi has a LOT more speed...

DW has the 64GB iPad mini. It has an 8" screen. She really likes it for reading, playing games and watching her favorite shows.

My Samsung phone its: settings -> apps (then pick an app)-> storage ->change
I tried that... most do not give the ability to move them... the ones that looked like they could just did not move...

Might try again to see.. I am looking to get a better phone and would love to be able to put apps on a card...
