Tattoos, anyone?

I can't think of a tattoo that would improve my looks or my self image.
Oh, I completely agree for shockingly good looking guys like you and me. I mean, really, how can you improve on perfection? But the ordinary schlubs might appreciate a little help.

Speaking of attention, I'm in a large expat community and am definitely in the lower end of the age-range. While I'm now sure that a lot of these folks view my tattoos negatively, the weekly dinner/tequila get-together has a couple of older women with tattoos and we have discussed and compared tats. Generally speaking quite a few people comment on the one on my forearm. People really like it for some reason, especially the gay man at the local art supply store lol

Just another anecdotal data point...

I was looking at my skin the other day and thanking God that I'd never gotten a tattoo. I doubt anything with detail would have been identifiable on my aging and crepe skin. It certainly would not have looked good like some of the dramatic skin art I see on young people these days. Some tats are strikingly beautiful. I hope they stay that way for the life of the young'uns who are getting them.

To display a visible tattoo is an intentional act to make a statement or be noticed.

Same goes for loud pipes on motorcycles, straight pipes on cars, drifting in intersections, and so on.

These things will provoke conversation and judgement.
A tattoo does not infringe on your safety or peace.
Loud pipes and unsafe driving do. They are a hazard to others.

My Dear Wife and I have matching tattoos, in a discrete place only visible to the two of us. We got these tatts before we were married and long before AIDS made needles a health hazard. When we get to swinging from the chandelier, those two inks link us like we were krazy kids again.

I see some of the youngsters today get the full sleeve all the way up their arms. A waitress the other day had her thigh festooned with either a butterfly or a dragon -- hard to tell which.
I just winked at DW. She winked back.

A true TMI tattoo tale:

A high school student insisted on showing me his new tattoo of a spider on his thigh.
“I did it myself!”
Nice, but ouch, that must have hurt. You’re very brave! Where did you learn how to do this?
“From my brother.”
Oh, is he a tattoo artist?
“No, he learned in prison.”

Interesting...and it is obviously a different genre but I'm researching paramedical tattoos - specifically tattooing my thyroidectomy scar so it is less obvious.

When I had my thyroid removed at the age of 30 the surgeon proudly said they'd placed it in a position on my neck so that by age 50 it would be concealed in the wrinkles! Well, the joke's on both of us because at 60+ I have NO wrinkles on my neck and the scar is as ugly and prominent as ever. After years of attempting to cover it with makeup I'm gonna take some real action.

I can hardly see my scar from the same operation. Is there a possibility of plastic surgery to make the scar less visible? We had a technician in my lab who got a nasty facial cut from flying glass. Her scar was later treated by a specialist and the effect was dramatic.

A group of our friends back in the 70s decided to get tattoos. The girls were getting butterflies and the guys were getting marijuana plants. We decided against it and have never got any.

Our son and DIL have many and continue getting them. My son has a sleeve and I believe that our DIL does also. Our daughter has 3, but two of them, you don't really see. Our SIL has one that that matches one that our DD has.

All four of them are college graduates and our DIL has a master's degree also. Our SIL has a higher salary than my DD and myself combined made during our working careers.

I was going to get a Texans tattoo on my right arm this season but was rejected because my aged skin is getting too thin! I'll just be content with license plate brackets, drink cups, decals on the car windows and jerseys, I guess.🏈

Hmm, didn't know thin skin was a thing. . .I guess it makes sense.

Not a fan of needles, which is an understatement.

I appreciate Art, but I also like to change my desktop wallpaper, and posters before that, frequently.

I’ve always told my daughters that a man with facial tattoos is a man who is not afraid of commitment.
😉

No tattoos for wife and I. I have never even considered it. My wife has considered it, but declined. Our Millennial son got a tattoo and our approval. Hidden on the back of his shoulder and it is a collection of the ribbons that have taken or afflicted people in his life. Pink for cancer, blue for diabetes, purple for Alzheimer's, red for cardiovascular disease.

Kind of hard to be disappointed with your child for that type of tattoo.

I'm just kidding, but at 81 years old, I doubt I am a candidate for a tattoo.:)
They have temporary tattoos. You put them in water & then apply to your skin for a few minutes. Get one to show off to your coffee group!

I have one tattoo on my calf. It is the alignment of the planets when my late wife & I met. I forget I have it on sometimes. A woman asked me at the pool about it last summer. I'd like to get it a bit more "colorized". I don't especially care for the colors I chose

All of my kids have more than 1. All different styles. I waited until I was 50 and knew what I wanted out of life. : O) Hopefully, since I waited so long, it will still look decent when I am 80. My wife has 2. She also waited until she was 50.

Some of today's look absolutely amazing. I don't like neck or face tattoos either.

cd : O)

Late wife did not have and I do not have any tattos. IMHO any woman having tatto(s) is instant turnoff. Cartainly reduces the potential dating pool, a great filter!!!
