The total number of vehicles Tesla delivered to its customers around the globe in Q1 2025 plunged by 13% from the already crushed levels a year ago, to 336,681 vehicles, the lowest since Q2 2022.

Deliveries of the Model 3 and Model Y plunged by 12.4% from the already crushed levels a year ago, to 323,800 units, the lowest since Q2 2022.

Deliveries of “other” models – Cybertruck, Model S, and Model X – collapsed by 24.3% year-over-year to just 12,881 vehicles, the lowest since Q1 2023, before Tesla even started producing the Cybertruck.
Might be a good time to buy a price discounted Tesla since there are tons of them in new inventory. Full article below including the colorful graphs!

My bet is it is going to get worse. Hold off a few months. Took a drive in my neighbor's Model X, very nice car I liked it a lot. However, they could give me a free Cybertruck and I wouldn't take it - I'll stick with my RAM 1500.
I have Bolt and not interested in a Tesla. If that day came, they would have to have a dealer network with good service techs and history.

I consider the Cyberjunk to be a really expensive Thing. ;)

I would likely need a significant upgrade to my forty year old Federal breaker box to Support a charger, although there is an empty slot where the previous owner supplied a hottub.

This is why I went with some offgrid panels and portable units. No permits, no replacing breaker box, no contractors…

Don't know where service on Tesla's stands now, but three years ago, GM (chevy, gmc, buick) used to be one of the more popular places to service tesla's since they could not service their own.

Well, is that your VW Thing in the photo? Those were (and still are) fun vehicles!

Oh, I would definitely take a free Cybertruck! That is a driving entire home energy source. It can power your home for a week.

I ve owned a Tesla Model y since 2022, before the current drama.
I like driving the car, not polluting, and in my area there are plenty of super chargers so no range anxiety.
I do not support Elon but his company makes some good cars.

Not polluting? You may want to read up on how Tesla's are made. How the buildings are made that produce Tesla's. Where the raw materials come from.

With sales being down...there are a lot of vehicles manufacturers in the EV business now. Of course their sales are down. Lot of options for people.

Partly clickbait, though the linked article mentions in passing. In the quarter Tesla discontinued the Model Y, their most popular model, and introduced an updated Model Y (Juniper) and production has not ramped up fully. That is part of the decline. However, there's no doubt some brand damage has hit Tesla as well since he's thrown himself into politics - the question is how much of each has depressed sales. We just don't know yet, and probably won't until about May when the new Model Y is in full production.

For the record I bought my Tesla 'before Elon went crazy,' and I don't support his involvement in politics. I regret buying a Tesla now, but I'm not going to get rid of it at a loss. I hope Elon goes back to his businesses and leaves politics behind, but I suspect he's done some permanent damage.

Big fan of Elon and what's he's doing but not of his cars. I should clarify, they are really nice cars, just not my thing. I have zero interest in owning one.

For the sake of discussion, I did look at inventory, and there are a fair amount of units within 200 miles of my location. To keep things in perspective, I looked mostly at the model s and plaid, cause I'm bougie like that. Then I checked mercedes to see how many e-class are in inventory. Can't even compare, there are at least twice, perhaps 3 times as many mercedes in inventory than tesla's.

Clearly Tesla's customer base has spoken, especially if you look at California, which according to the article, was their biggest market. Sales fell off in 2023, but is that attributable to his comments about San Franscisco or the challenges that California has with their grid and charging?

There's a Tesla dealership 1/4 mile down the road from my house. It's filled with the same looking car just different colors. Never see a sole on the lot. Not sure why anyone would buy one.

The Musk empire near Austin/Bastrop is impressive. He is providing a lot of jobs but is very unpopular in the area. They are even planning on a "company town" - as Bob Dylan's song says, "Things Have Changed". ☮

MY/3 production was down 100,000 units Q1 vs Q4 but the MY production was interrupted for about a month for model change over and with weekly production of about 25,000 units it explains most of the decline.

Virtually all of the Tesla owners I know really like their vehicle. The few that have sold a Tesla did so because they replaced it with another Tesla, or their needs changed and the Tesla vehicles no longer fit their new needs. For example, they wanted a big hulking pickup truck to pull their 30 foot retirement trailer, or a minivan to haul the four kids and all their gear.

The Supercharger near me is still filled up to near capacity most of the waking hours. At 2:00 PM today, 11 of the 12 slots were occupied.

I have mixed feelings about these boycotts. They do get attention, but the folks at Tesla or Target or Bud Light often have no input on corporate decisions.

As an aside, Kid Rock, a loud proponent for boycutting Bud Light, meanwhile still selling it at his bar. ;)

Texas, I meant buy the car now since they are discounted a bit.
AHHH, OK... if they are selling at a discount and you want one I would agree...

With tariffs coming they might be the winner as I think they are 100% American...
