west coast, hi there!
Tomorrow is once a month cleaning service time. There are 3 ladies who come in and clean around the house. We have only employed them for 2 months and the results are great. Before that we did it all ourselves for 50+ years. I would say that there being only 2 of us we keep the house pretty clean in the interim.

It seems it would be a nice gesture to add an amount to the $150 they charge for the cleaning visit. This would be holiday bonus of sorts.

What amount do you think is good? An additional $50 or .... ?

Given the short length of the relationship, I’d round the $150 up to $200 and call it a day. If you’re flush and want to be generous, the extra $50 each would be good.

What do you think you’d give them if they were there a full year?

Also, do the three of them all come in and clean your house as a group?

we tip our cleaning lady (every other week) an extra $50. but we paid her during the pandemic panic when she wasn't working. She never forgot that and hasn't raised her price to us since despite inflation.

Our cleaning lady comes every two weeks, sometimes alone and sometimes with a helper. I currently pay her $150 per visit. I am not privy to the financial setup between her and her helpers. I always have given her the price of one visit as an extra Christmas bonus, which I put in a personalized card that I leave for her on the last cleaning day before Christmas. So this year, that would be $150.

Timely, I was just wondering about this myself.

Yes they clean as a group. I don't know what it would be if they were with us a full year but probably more.

Maybe we should up it to $75 and so that would be $25 per cleaning person. Of course, I don't know how the lead lady would distribute it if she indeed did distribute it. Next year we would then go to $50 per cleaning person. Sound like a good plan?

I think $75 would be plenty.

Our cleaners come every other week and do a great job. They are always in a good mood & very thorough. We started w/them 4 years ago. they haven't raised prices since. Around June this year I bumped it up 25 dollars. (150 to 175) they keep cashing the check so I think they are happy.

I'm going to bonus them 2 cleanings. ($350) Call it BTD

We use an agency, the only way that we would use anyone to work on our home or pet sitting. We gifted each cleaner $40 last year (they usually come in a group of 2 or 3, but always the same team lead). We also gift small amounts - $20 each or occasions, other than the weekly tips. This year we may bump it up to $50 each.

We double the amount we pay for a full house cleaning...

Ours is every 2 weeks with downstairs only one time and both stories the next... kids are gone so do not need upstairs that often..

There are 3 ladies and the owner who come... I let her split it up.. but I think DW made suggestions last year...

BTW, we do $100 for the lawn guy... he is really cheap so give him more...

Ours comes weekly and ~3hrs for $70 (tiny home). We recently gave her a $200 thank you. Her daughter goes to visit DW's mom and spend time with her. We also gave her a little extra.

She also usually takes our hand me downs, like the 55" TV & area rug recently.

We don't use a cleaning service, etc., but I always tip/gift each person individually instead of wondering what might roll down from the head person.

Regardless of the amount, if you're not comfortable going up to each person and handing them cash individually, maybe hand three envelopes to the main person you transact with, each with a cleaner's name on it. That would make it very clear to lead that you intend for the distribution.

That also ensures the lead doesn't have to mess with breaking and splitting things up.

We have had the same person doing it by herself for over 20 years. We pay $110 per visit now (every 2 weeks), and usually give her a holiday "bonus" of about the same.

Back when I lived in a house and had cleaners there were 3 people. I tipped the full amount of the price of one cleaning between them. I handed each person their own envelope.

When I was an expat and we had a live-in maid, the year end bonus/holiday tip was equal to 1 month’s pay. We also gave a round trip ticket (coach) home once a year when she wanted “home leave”. That was the standard contract when we were in Singapore.

I would do 3 cards, one for each, that way you know the money is distributed.

+1
When we cruise, sometimes I have noticed there are 2 people that work together to clean the rooms.
I've never been disappointed with their work.
I tip each one individually to make sure each gets their share, I don't care if one is the boss and the subordinate is standing there, I hand them each their share.

If you are doing $25 each - hand the cash to each one directly, whether in a card or just cash in hand.

Your plan sounds reasonable.

After talking with DW we bumped it up to $40 for each of 3 cleaning ladies. I distributed them via envelopes which DW decorated a bit. Probably will get me a special place when I go to the happy hunting grounds.
