Tacking on to Dan Tien's recent historical thread on Ben Franklin, I wonder if anyone here has read P.T. Barnum's book "The Art of Money Getting"?  Below is a link to it, and it's also available for download in a text file at Project Gutenburg.

These ideas were critical for me getting to this point:

Avoid Debt (Lived below my means and paid credit
cards off each month)
Don't scatter your powers (I call it FOCUS)
Do It With All Your Might
Persevere
