I'm getting caught up on things today and finally read the article. Thanks for posting it. As you can see from the responses, many of us here find the description fits us. Nodding and smiling as I read along.
This is just about where we sit, too. Not "wealthy" like many on this forum but we have a nice nest egg that we don't need to withdraw from. It just sits there, growing and compounding. We are quite comfortable living below our income from a COLAed pension and SS. Being able to save every month is my happy place. Now that we have gotten to this safe and secure situation I aim to be less frugal and more generous.
Our sons are both doing better than we ever did in our working lives. I hope we can leave them something significant in an inheritance but even if we use it all up in our late years I know they will be in a good place in their financial lives.
I relate to the article and much what folks have said.
We don't have millions saved, but do have a pension. It allows us to live the same lifestyle as when we were working, plus more travel and the ability to give to our kids now.
We have enough, and feel comfortable that we can weather aging OK, even if one of us needed nursing home end of life care for a few years. Barring a serious long term illness in both of us at the same time, that might stretch things, but we do have the house we can sell if needed.
We hope to leave a legacy to our kids, that is importance to us.
