The Photographers' Corner - 2021 to ?

It is iffy but maybe I could give it a try. Ron I wasn't sure how they worked, and I never looked into them. I will do some research, and I might get one.
Now the WYZE camera would work if I had power and that isn't any issue. The WYZE camera would only capture pictures on SD card, but I wouldn't be able to look at them from home. I would have gotten card to look at them I believe.
My BIL used to work with a couple of guys - deer hunters with remote hunting properties. I think they both have them. I vaguely remember them talking about their trail cams - I fired off a text to BIL to see how they like them.

That is great and what a kind gesture! Thank You Ron.

I just bought a camera which will store the video on a microSD card and allow me to play back "events" when it detects movement or people or sounds, which causes the camera to record.

It optionally lets you upload the video to their cloud service but I specifically looked for one which will store video locally so I don't have to pay for their subscription.

I tried playing one of the videos back while I was at a store, away from home.

Obviously you need Wifi and to create an account with them. It also has a microphone and speaker so you can talk to an intruder.

Paid $25.

Has a 64 GB microSD card already but bought another one, $12.99 for 256 GB Samsung EVO.

Lunar occultation of Mars on Jan 13th. I captured this from my home in Denver just seconds before Mars went behind the full moon. Look at around 7 O'Clock on moon image to see the small red dot that is Mars. Taken at 600mm on a sony a6700.

It's called Fantasia Tower, an old volcanic vent in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness of central Washington state. Taken from my living room.

Beautiful pictures to all of You.
I would like to be able to have pictures taken and send back to me when I'm not at the ranch. The problem is I don't have WIFI there for internet, but I could get power if I wanted it.
You could look into a cellular capable router, then the Wyze camera would work and you could actually use a few wyze cameras as long as the router works on 2.4 ghz.

I have found the v3 does the online web brower based viewing, but the V4 doesn't , however it has a nicer playback for detection.
Both record to SD card , (I set continuous record).
Both alert and allow live view over phone without subscription.

Wouldn’t there be an advantage in using your full frame Z8 over the DX in the 5300?

Not to mention greater resolution?

Does the lens mount on the telescope support the Z series lens mount?

my z8 is dedicated for birding and sits with my 600 F4 or 500 5.6 PF.
my zFc is a dedicated grab and go camera

I didn't want to subject the z8 to the vagaries of long exposures, low temperature, etc. the 5300 has similar pixel density - it's actually very popular dslr for astrophotographers to get started due to the Sony sensor.

having said this - it was a "beginning" solution for me. I just purchased a dedicated astro camera that is optimized for deep space photography - it will pick up the colors from gas emissions much better than a regular DSLR can.

end of the day - just another toy.. :>
