Chicken on a pole? The local swamp boats take tourist out and bait the gators. I seen them do it from my kayak. It's against the law but it's local commerce.
Those are rare, they have several at Gatorland. He looks so pleasant.

We stayed at the lodge. Pretty pricey, but the mob scene you reference is why we did it. We were able to get out on hikes before the buses showed up, both in the mornings and after they departed in the evenings. The restaurant was outstanding, too. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good.
We got really lucky with the weather. Talked to a couple who was checking out as we were heading to breakfast our first morning, after climbing the Rockpile. They had rain/sleet/snow every day. We had a snow shower our first evening, right after we arrived, but it cleared up quickly. A thunderstorm blew through one afternoon, after we had completed our hiking for the day and it also cleared up quickly.
Not that one. They did it another day in a different area. We hated that.
Good to know. Will have to stay there sometime relatively soon.
