At age 57 my official early retirement day is finally here. I took the government DRP offer early this year in May, which meant that I continued to receive my paycheck. But that ends today. Now it is for real. I checked my 401k (TSP) balance, updated my spreadsheet and the numbers look good on paper. The time has come to proof the numbers are in the ballpark and that all will be fine.

I am both anxious and nervous to see how 2026 will be for my wife and I. But at the same time we are excited to explore this new chapter in our life. The last 35 years was one of financial sacrifices and delayed gratification. We are looking forward to relax at home and go out to places every now and then.

Being in this forum and reading all the topics and stories makes clear that it is possible.

Congrats! Now what are you going to do ?

Lol. I just posted in that other thread talking about Retirement Jobs. I plan on doing some flight instruction and motorcycle instruction for fun and stay a little busy.

For retirement enjoyment, the wife and I are planning several trips around the US of A and Alaska. A driving trip from Florida to the Oshkosh, Wisconsin Air Show, that I have never ever have attended. Other plans include visiting my parents more often. They live in Puerto Rico. And to visit some friends who recently move to Spain. If finances are on track, I would like to go to a trip that our Aero Club is planning to New Zealand to meet with another Aero Club and fly the island from north to south.

Congrats. Sounds you will be off to a great start in retirement.

Congratulations on your retirement!
