This Market is Crazy!!!

Yeah, defining "crazy" could be complicated.

It doesn't feel real. Surreal is more like it.
I certainly don't count on it being spendable just yet. I've thought of pulling out some "winnings" but then I think "Naaaaaahhhh!"

It sure is unpredictable to say the least. Wonder what if anything can break this trend?

The company I retired from has skyrocketed this past year. Unfortunately I own zero. Only those not stuck in a cubicle everyday were offered stock. But hey most of them are still working and I am not.

Wow, Impressive run for your former employer! Would you call it crazy though?
Yeah, shipping companies tell us in Hawaii "Let us raise our rates or we're outta here. Take it or we leave it."

I know a few people that panicked a few months back and did what they felt comfortable doing and now it was the wrong move. They mostly likely can't afford to stay in the game and most or all here can stay pat when things go south. A lot can't.

Yes Crazy Times!

But you never really know if it was the wrong move until years later.

We could be at the brink of a huge collapse, or not.

Call me cynical but the first thing I thought of when I saw the earnings report was that companies are using the current situation to increase prices significantly more than needed to simply make up for inflation. Nothing like an external situation to justify raising prices - what's a few extra percent just to be safe.

The next thing I thought is that the well to do keep doing well and those not well enough off to participate are being left behind.

Then, I looked at my Fidelity account and smiled. It really is crazy.

Yeah, I own MU, INTC, AVGO, FSELX, QQQ, and SPMO.

It's been fun.

Shocking

90% of stock is owned by 10% of people. The daily record highs are great for those of us in the 10% but for 90% of Americans, the economy is lousy and getting worse.

My ESOP+RSU position value at my last employer has multiplied 30-fold as of the close today compared to what it was when I retired at YE 2022. My employer had been for decades the red-headed stepchild in silicon valley, and today's AI bubble has finally given it a cinderella moment. But I think we know how this story ends, it'll rhyme with a century ago.

According to Google:
“62% of Americans own stock, either directly or through retirement accounts like 401(k)s or IRAs. This figure indicates that a majority of U.S. adults participate in the stock market in some form.”

Correct.
I only own a few Million in stock funds.
I wish I owned $20 Million or more like rich people do but that's not gonna happen.
