This weather is awful - 2024 to ?

Suffice it to say that we are very glad we have natural gas heat and paid for the extra insulation package. Yeah, it's cold.

We had two hail events in the past 24 hours. The first one was about 7pm last night. Heavy rains, pea sized hail and high winds. The second one happened about 5am this morning. The winds and rain weren't as bad but we got another ~5 min pelting of hail. The weather radio has been going off like crazy. Seems Spring is coming in like a roaring Lion.

Looks like the central and southern mid eastern states could catch hell today.

We briefly hit 105 degrees yesterday! Fortunately the forecast for the rest of the month looks much better, mostly highs in the 80s and occasional lower 90s.

I think yesterday must have been a record high temperature for March 14. OK now I see that it was indeed a record high.

Snow on the peak behind me, near freezing at the homestead, and no electric for 5 hours this morning. What a way to start the day half way through March.

What a contrast!

Although I expect you get hotter than us in August unless you live at altitude.

Well, it is cold, dreary and rainy today. I had been plans to get the doggo out of the house nice and early (in an attempt to reset her circadian rhythm), but the weather did not cooperate.

1 more month of a Florida spring. 85 today and will be in the 80's for the next 2 weeks. Lows around 60/63.
Summer coming in April.

So no rain at all in almost two months (and not that much then either) and today we get over 6 inches!!

We’ll probably get at least one more inch before this event is done.

Rained here, but not bad. Tomorrow there is more coming.
We’re half way to desert here and go through long dry periods. But sometimes like today we get >1/3 of our rain in one day! Our average annual rainfall is only 18 inches.

Yes, much different there than up here north of Houston. I call this place The Swamp! :ROFLMAO:

Yes, very different! Even though we do have a few alligators in the Rio Grande.
I've been down your way many times in my work career and on vacation. Actually, I have been almost everywhere one can go in Texas when doing oilfield work. Texas is quite the state with respect to climate diversity.

No kidding!

We ended up with 7.15 inches total in that 36 hour rain event.
The local news showed videos of a lot of flooded areas in the Valley... Looked pretty bad to me.

sunny but hazy skies, 49 right now. Cloudy and rainy forecasted for most of the week.

Yeah, saw the floods on TV. Hope you are okay.
We’re fine. A few folks in the neighborhood had small problems. We saw a FedEx truck get stuck in deep water and had to be towed after couple of hours later. They shouldn’t have tried to deliver in high water. These super heavy rain events seem to happen about every three years.

A lot of areas were way worse than us. Harlingen got 21 inches this week - incredible! Except that it has happened before. This I-2 access road is not very far from us. Yes, that’s a road with a deep ditch next to the shopping center. Apparently cars floated everywhere many ending up in the deeper ditches. The interstate itself was fine.

Reminds me of Harvey in 2017 when we had 50+ inches of rain!

Dense fog literally all day today in CT. Not too cold but it was a good soup and coffee day , and honestly I loved it. Read a book, went to a local lighting store and am sipping a nice Cab right now.
