Tipping home movers

I am using an Allied mover 5 day process 53 ft truck 6 people. Right now thinking $100 per mover if all goes well and the same people stay on the job. Dont want to be foolish in $ but realistic in expectation. White glove move. 5K square foot house 500 miles
The only person that will be the same at both ends of the move is the driver. He contracts with Allied and then hires local people from the local Allied office/warehouse. The driver is who controls the process and pays for the local moving labor employees. I do believe a tip is good, just keep in mind that it will be different people loading vs unloading, except the driver. It's his truck and he gets a percentage of the moving bill.

No one knows what the workers are getting paid, yet everyone seems to know how much they should be tipped.
It’s not like tipping info isn’t readily available online with a 5 second search. And having our entire household moved 750 miles with no breakage and one small nick in our laundry room wall - didn’t happen by accident.

I can guarantee you the four guys who unloaded us weren’t getting rich on the job. Some of us would rather go a little generous when in doubt, while others just assume otherwise.

This is how I view it. ^^

Another thing to consider is the level of income of the person doing the tipping. Why is it okay to consider the income of the person doing the work and not the income of the person paying the bill? Throwing out a few hundos to reward some folks that did a good job moving a millionaire’s house seems entirely reasonable. Hopefully, everybody is happy in the end.

I am moving 500 miles and the biggest truck is a 53 footer. 2 days of packing and 2 days of unloading. Tons of stuff mostly already boxed Total cost of full truck is $18K. (got 3 bids). So a big move. My employer
has paid most of my past moves but this is my last...on me..

I don’t think you need to consider the level of income of the person paying the bill. If you can afford to hire movers you can afford to tip decently.

Moving is hard physically that takes a toll on the worker’s bodies and they aren’t usually highly paid. I have found that often the richest people can be the stingiest when it comes to tipping.

When DD and DSIL bought their townhome, the movers (2 young guys) did an excellent job They moved heavy furniture up two flights with 45 degree turns, including washer/dryer and large King bedroom set, not one mark on walls, no damage done, two complete trips (less than 20 miles roundtrip) and worked until close to midnight.
DH and I paid the moving costs and added $100 cash tip for each. They deserved it, with all of DD "stuff"!

20 bucks a day per mover and buy their lunch ahs been my go-to.

I definitely did do a premove chat before they touched anything on the truck to tell them the ground rules, a brief summary of where the rooms are and what I call them, and njot to bang up the frashly painted walls and not damage anything and in return there will be a takeout lunch provided and a tip at end of day. Be up front with expetations and that there will be a tip for performance

Don’t tip them a nickel until you’ve verified that all of your belongings have arrived safely.

We used a similar moving service, and we had so many “lost” and damaged items that I can only attribute it to intentional sabotage.
