Update on Year 8 of ER

Year 10 of FI. I still do a little business coaching through a non-profit. I like being able to write off health insurance expenses, despite the self-employment taxes. 2025 I go on SS (70!) and my spouse switches to spousal benefit. We are on a waiting list for a same-state CCRC, but still happy in our home.

For Plantar Fascitis, stretch all 3 calf muscles every day (toes out, toes straight, toes in). Stretch your hamstrings too. PF is those tight muscles pulling on your fascia. Over a long period of time, the stretching will help and then the PF inflammation will go away. It took me months, but I have not had PF for years. In the meantime, never go barefoot and wear shoes with good arch supports. Rolling your feet on a frozen water bottle helps too. I hope all is well with DH heart!
I agree and recommend Oofos shoes...I never go barefoot anymore...

I love my Oofos! Wear them all the time around the house and also run errands in them.

I’m going to an orthopedic doctor this week. I’ve been doing my PT exercises very diligently and going to PT twice a week for over 2 months, and I don’t feel it’s getting better at all. Haven’t had any imaging yet, so want to make sure the diagnosis is correct.

I'm sorry to hear that Scuba, but I get it. It took me probably 3 months to heal. Unfortunately this first happened many years ago and then came back and seemed to take forever for it to heal. Now that it is healed, I wear only supportive shoes for PF and try to remember to use a battery operated massager on my foot to keep the ligaments stretched out and supple. So far, so good; it's been about a year. I'm bummed about trying to find attractive shoes but it's getting better I think...Luckily I was never a "heels" kind of gal.
