All stock indexes way up Friday. Bonds dropping. I'd expect balanced funds to be way up today. But all my Vanguard balanced funds are down. With stocks up and bond prices down, shouldn't balanced funds be up?

Treasury interest rates dropped today, I would think interest rates in treasury and corporate bond fund would drop also and that would mean the nav would increase. I got out of bond funds in the spring of 2022 and have stayed in T bills mostly and some CDs, bond funds are unpredictable IMO.

Balanced Index, Wellesley, and Wellington all up today. Which funds are you referring to?

It takes Vanguard a while to update fund prices on their website after the market closes. It seems that they tend to update around 2 hours after market close, but it varies from day to day.

Perhaps you looked after the market closed but before Vanguard had updated their fund prices. If that's what happened, you were looking at yesterday's results, not today's.

Indexes update value in real time, mutual funds don't.

Yeah, OP simply was just a tiny bit early on looking at the price update.

VBIAX was up 0.96% yesterday which tracks well against VTI at %1.45 and BND at %0.44.

Remember, a lot of the Bond action was a few weeks ago when the market guessed that Powell would say what he said.

Yeah, I was too soon. I always wait till after 6:00 PM, and the Vanguard website showed prices updated with Friday close. Guess I caught them in the middle. Everything is about where I'd expect it to be this morning.
