So we just opened a Roth IRA account for DW so she can do some conversions, first new account in many years. It's always been necessary to call Vanguard to populate Household Statements, never an online option. So we called in and the rep told us they are no longer able to add to Household Statements due to changes in FINRA.

They did say she can authorize the Roth to show up in my portal so I can at least see everything consolidated online.

[edit] Evidently Fidelity still offers household statements How to Combine Account Statements - Fidelity

Probably when they combine all the Vanguard accounts for the household (Midpack's + Mrs Midpack's) into one statement.

I didn't even know there had been a household option.

That’s what it is. We have joint brokerage, two tIRAs and now two Roths. They won’t add the new Roth. Household Statement shows all balances, transactions for each account plus and all up summary - published monthly.

Ditto.

We did agent authorization many years ago so all our accounts show up no matter which one of us logs on, but we get individual statements not a combined one.

Same with us. That may be why I didn’t understand the OP, as I don’t recall ever seeing a combined printed statement.

I actually dislike the combined household view. I am trustee for my mum’s accounts and other trust accounts, and Vanguard bundles them all into one giant account.

I don't think it's a FINRA thing unless it's very recent. DH opened a second Roth IRA earlier this year and Wells Fargo Advisors automatically added it to our household statement. I didn't even have to ask.

It doesn't really matter to me because I access our statements online anyway and can login to his online account (err, I mean he can login to his online account ) and check a box to have his accounts and statements appear under my login too. I usually look at them one-by-one every couple of months just to verify that the balances look approximately the same as what Quicken downloads.

We should probably get the agent authorizations, but I handle the accounts and DH is so nervous, he wants to sell everything whenever the market drops, and I have to talk him off the ledge.

Fidelity is inconsistent for us with how HSA's hit statements. My HSA is separate, on it's own statement, separate from my main statement. This HSA was started elsehwere and transferred to Fidelity. I even asked for it to be combined with my other statement, but they said it wasn't possible. My wife's HSA is included with her statement, but was opened with Fidelity.

I also called Fidelity about including our HSA statements on our combined statement which includes all other accounts. They said regulations require that the HSA statements be separate.

I was in the neighborhood.

We have had our monthly statements like this since forever.

For those who get household statements, what do you use them for?

I am full agent for my Dad's accounts at Vanguard, so I can see all of mine and all of his when I log in. I can also see all of the individual statements monthly in the "Statements" section, but no household statements.

I am unable to see what the benefit of a household statement would be, and would appreciate the enlightenment in case there's some improvement I can make to our situation.

Household is the only statement I download for our records.

It is strange how they do household stmts...

I was not able to get the Ms on mine even thought I see it online...

And online they messed me up by putting my mom's estate with mine when I do a full view of all my accounts.... I do see Ms on that which I liked (moved hers to Schwab so not there anymore)..

Just looked an hers does show up on all schedules online... not sure about paper...

BTW, you get a small summary and then the individual accounts after that... just in one envelope...

I'll look at my statements at end of the year. To save the $200 per account I allowed V to stop sending me printed reports. I'm still mad about that - so don't know about the Household Statements yet. I don't see why they would be a problem, but maybe they really will irritate me.

I can see a value, in certain circumstances, i.e. stream lining wherein joint returns are filed (and potentially wherein dependents have income).

It’s easier to login once and look at or save one document showing all balances and activity than to have to login twice (me and DW) to open 5-6 accounts and documents individually. With HS I have one year end statement for every year vs 5-6.

I got the impression from the Vanguard rep today that Household Statements are no longer offered - but those of us that set them up are grandfathered in apparently, and we’ll continue to receive them.

Much like consolidated 1099 statements from Vanguard versus one for every account…

We have been getting household statements from Vanguard for years, but we have never had all accounts on the household statement. When we switched over to brokerage accounts a few years ago, they changed which accounts were on the household statement. I never could figure out how they decided which accounts to include/exclude. I am able to use one Login to see and download all of the statements.

We only have 2 accounts at Vanguard (joint and DW's Roth IRA, also had DW's tIRA but that has been fully converted). With the agent authorizations ( for so long I cannot remember when we did them), getting consolidated information has not been a problem. We do few transactions on Vanguard so the year-end summary report and the consolidated 1099 report are the only ones that matter to us, and I have not had issues with them.

Like your spouse, I opened my HSA with Fidelity. So that account is listed with my other Fidelity investment accounts and cash management account in one combined statement.

Yeah, me too I turn off the other accounts so I only see those belonging to DW and myself. I don't care about statements only transactions.

What a pain I couldn’t get Fidelity to combine our HSA statements into our combined statement when has all other accounts.
