I'm 61, married with a grownup daughter who has launched, hoping to retire early part-time next year after working 40 years in IT systems development, including 27 years total at the Limu Emu.
I will have enough if I retire at 62 next January between our 2 SS's and my private pension to cover about 80% of our expenses. For the rest, building up high yield income CEFs and BDCs in 50-60% of the port will cover.
I'm a mechanical asset allocator / trend follower in the vein of Alpha Architect / Mebane Faber / Antonacci, applying relative and absolute momentum to a "global tactical" allocation that adjusts monthly or more. Used to run mechanical stock screens.
Most recently I've followed Fidelity investor community migrants over here in response to the stupid "upgrade" of their discussion boards. I mostly focus now on the closed-end income fund space, very appealing for yield as I approach retirement. I was an avid follower, poster and lurker of the Motley Fool discussion boards as far back as 1998, but their 2023 "upgrade" drove me out.
