W2R Sad News

Very sad and a tremendous loss for the community. May you rest in peace W2R.

Not surprised that W2R would be protective of "Frank's" privacy and identity as that was her personality. But according to the obit, it appears "Franks's" name is actually Frederick. A great guy by any name.

Or am I reading something incorrectly?

What a wonderful legacy W2R left for participants on this forum, as evidenced by so many heartfelt messages from all of us who enjoyed her posts. Truly a special person, gone too soon. RIP.

Thank you for letting us know, Omni.

A Frank by any other name is still a Frank. W2R a highly educated woman who made her own way. She shared openly yet still had her secrets,as we all do. She made the life she wanted and she loved every minute of that life. Her wit was right on point and very pointed sometimes..if you happened to annoy her you'd hear about it. Her best quality was that she loved her life exactly as it was and wasn't afraid to say ,out loud ,I'll do it my way. Confident and didn't compare her life to anyone, anywhere. We all could take a lesson from her.

Thanks for the obit with her bio. She shared little about her professional accomplishments, as was her style. While she dropped a few hints along the way, it's nice to see confirmation she was the professionally accomplished lady I long suspected. She lived a great message about life - work hard to have the kind of career to make one proud, then set it aside and focus on the daily life and partner, who she obviously adored.

I'll miss her calm attitude about everything-life in general, evacuating for a hurricane, getting covid, and her final challenge. Her love for Frank was obvious every time she mentioned him. Great lady, I hope everyone has someone like her in their life.

While those of us who knew her only from this forum are sad, it's hard to imagine the pain of her loss for those who really knew her. Rest in Peace, lady.

Oh, how small the world is! I have not been on this forum long, and didn't 'know' W2R the way many of you did, but I did follow her posts when she was diagnosed. I have a close friend who worked in the Oceanography dept at Texas A&M - to think that their paths might have crossed many years ago, and that in some small way I too crossed paths with her, it's amazing. RIP W2R

I found her to be a very interesting person with an excellent perspective on ER. She was a delightful ray of sunshine during the dark times of 2008. May she RIP.

She lived her retirement her uniquely and proudly, yet not an ounce of arrogance. Her sage endured.

So sad to hear this, as W2R was one of my favorite posters here. Rest in peace W2R.

So very sad to learn this. Really enjoyed her posts over the last many years. Happy to hear she was an Aggie.

RIP.

I'm very sorry to hear this, I've always enjoyed her posts. Rest in peace W2R.

I, too, had recently searched for an obituary, but it was before last week. So now we know what many of us had suspected but hoped was not true. I was grateful to be able to read her obit and learn of her many accomplishments in life. She will be missed by so many here on the forum. I hope Frank (or Fred?) has some way to discover the many here who wish him well...

Thanks for the obituary link. I recall a few years ago DW and I were spending a couple nights in New Orleans and I PM'd her of my interest in meeting her and Frank and taking them out to lunch. I promptly received a response of a polite decline with an explanation that she was a very private person and had not met anyone from er.org in real life. I was a bit disappointed but was fine with it. I will miss her wit and wisdom.

Mods, do we know whether Frank/Fred and her kids are aware of this thread and can see the high regard that she was held in our community?

The obit has a place to leave a comment, if someone would like to do so.

And someone did so a couple of days ago, with a very nice message.

As private as she was, I'm guessing "Frank" is the same, and may not want to read how often he was discussed here, though I imagine she let him know.

I'm certain Frank knows whatever W2R wished him to know. I'd prefer to leave it at that but completely understand the natural desire to include her family/friends in our love for her.

So sad to hear this about W2R. I just read her obituary - what an accomplished lady. I so enjoyed her many posts and was inspired by them. Will miss you - rest in peace lovely lady.

I am so sad about this news. I read more on this forum than post but loved her posts the best ! I cry tears this morning for someone I never meet but I feel was a bright light in the people who knew her personally. RIP. The world has lost but heaven has gained 😢
