With my not-so-old Firefox going belly up due to certs they allowed expire, I'm looking for a alternate browser in which all distracting visuals can be switched off, preferably natively, that is, without third party add-ons. I want no videos, no animated gifs, no images unless I click to see them, no javascript unless I enable it for a site, etc. Can any current browser for Windows do that?

I use Firefox also. With the uBlock Origin popup blocker I see very little annoying ads or videos. I also use Adguard DNS which blocks most ads on my computer, phones, etc. at home.

Thanks, Brave had not been on my radar, sounds interesting. Firefox remotely disabling my addons makes that browser less attractive. I'm reluctant to continue with them because they'll probably do that again.

Try Florp. It is similar to Firefox but with more features and as far as I can see it is very private and has some additional features. I migrated from Firefox about a month ago and I like it. You have to go into development mode to get the extended features. I believe you can add features from Firefox. At first I didn't realize that many of the advanced features were in the development area. To get to those features you click on file and go to developer at the bottom of the list. It then brings up all your previous set tabs from your previous session just like Firfox only with added features. I use the same blockers as in Firefox and don't see any popups or ads.

Brave and Firefox are my go-to PC browsers. I do also leave Chrome open, at least for now, as there are a few sites I use exclusively through that.

On the phone I'm using Brave and Vivaldi.

Another vote for Brave here. Seems to block a lot of what Chrome didn't.

I saw an article that discussed which browsers are the most popular. First is Chrome, then Edge. Firefox which I have used for years is way down the list. Some things just don't seem to work in Firefox.

So I've been using Edge with Ublock Origin. It probably does not meet the initial post criteria but I just want something that works most of the time and that has decent ideas of how to manage bookmarks. Also on my iPhone the Edge app seems to be pretty nice allowing me to get at my desktop PC bookmarks.

Firefox works for me for most websites, even with my settings and add-ons. I update regularly.

I usually have a lot of tabs open - 181 currently. lol

My new Mac came with Safari. It w*rks for me but I don't have much (other than Firefox) to compare it to.

Use Vivaldi for my daily browser. Has tab grouping and just added workspaces which lets you switch between entire sets of tabs in the same window. It has an ad blocker installed by default, so I almost never see ads. Looks like it comes with uBlock Origin as well.
