Waste not want not.

Ordered compression socks rec by the podiatrist and some dietary supplement pill thing that is alleged to help tinnitus. Lipo Flavinoid or some such. $20.

Ordered engine air filter and cabin air filter for my car. Less than $20, and the instant oil change place would want over $100. The "labor" is easy and 5 -10 minutes to change both. Just need a screwdriver iirc. I like saving money on easy stuff like that.

Farted around and was lazy. :)

Just got home from a romantic spa getaway to New Mexico. Incredible trip, great food, even the dogs had a blast.

Then we returned home to over a foot of snow, a busted furnace and a missing Thanksgiving CSA box. Fortunately we have a wood burner with a blower, so now I'm about to take a break from shoveling to chop wood.

Odds of getting the furnace fixed before Thanksgiving ~0%, so it's going to be a long couple of days.

Today kids and grandkids are coming over for our Thanksgiving dinner--easy menu as we are having turkey sandwiches--either hot with gravy or cold with cream cheese and cranberry sauce. Or both! Have fresh veggies, fruit salad and dessert choices of pumpkin and pecan pie and chocolate brownies per DGS request.
Tomorrow they will be with other family members, so DH and I will have a quiet thanksgiving Day.

Update: After several restart attempts and overheat shutdowns, we were able to get the furnace going again and the CSA box was found. Heading back out to shovel and rake more of the foot and a half deep glop off the roof.

Spent 2 hours peeling and slicing apples and putting together a pie using Marie Callenders Pastry Pie Shells from the freezer. Never ever NEVER use these! When I went to put the pie in the oven the "pie tin" supplied folded in half like a taco, and my pie was suddenly a floor pie. It was about as strong as 2 sheets of tinfoil. So mad! :devilish:

I slapped it back together and baked it anyway. The floor was just cleaned yesterday. I will at least try it. Smells good but DW says I can't take it to Dad's tomorrow. So I got a store bought pie for $18. It better be good.

Raked leaves for about an hour and a half, packed a bag to leave for Thanksgiving (two nights) in the morning, then went to the gym.

I updated my iPad SW last night and it changed quite a few settings. The display is now totally different. That’s one of the things that irritates me most in the world of computers and tech.

Recliner broke down- switch doesn’t control up down anymore. DW wants to go Black Friday shopping for a new recliner. But mine is stuck in the full recline position, so I’m wondering why I would need a new one.
LOL!!!

Been hunting in the morning and late afternoons if weather isn't too bad. I have a mile walk into a spot I can see and watch. I'm after a big mule deer buck, I see often but we just can't get it right up to this point.
Went to ranch after morning walk-in to hunt. I like to get there more often when hunting season is on.
I still can drive in a way since it hasn't plugged up yet from too much snow.
Today going to the kids for Thanksgiving daughter in-law parents will be there also. Be fun to see the 22 month old granddaughter. She is starting to be a lot of fun now.

I got a ride to work, fired up the dump truck and recovered the big excavator off the Fair job and straight to the property. I loaded the perforated pipe and fittings and fabric.
After unloading all that at the site I got a box of 3"- rock and a full box of drain rock is now on the truck for Friday.
A hundred mile drive with the heavy load and old truck is work, and I made coffee to get enough energy to make the 100 mile drive home for our little celebration today.

Had the kids and grands here last night for our dinner, today is quiet with just us two and leftovers!

Went skiing this morning. Rode up with the better-half, but she went to the Nordic Center and I went up to the resort. Ended up riding with some of her friends and caught the same bus back home with her.

Turkey just went in the oven, although our big party is tomorrow: "Latkes and Leftovers."

Ronstar.....our electric recliner couch quit working a month ago in the 'reclining' position. A technician came to the house and replaced the plug/electrical box that goes into the wall outlet. Worked for 2 weeks, quit again. I ordered 2 new plug/boxes....one for the current repair, one for a future repair. Fingers crossed.

Drove 3 hours to Chestertown, MD for Thanksgiving day with family. Had a great time and got some good photos but I can't do anything with them now because I forgot an adapter to connect the laptop with the SD card. We're in a hotel now and I'm waiting for DW to wake up so we can head back home. Hopefully that'll be soon now so we can miss any backups at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Yesterday's delay was only about 15 minutes or so but some of them can be horrendous. They need a third span, or make one or both spans much wider. I guess that would also be a horrendous (not to mention expensive) project as well. But since I don't live in MD anymore I don't care how much their taxes go up.:)

It's that time of the year again. Had to drag out all the Christmas decorations this morning and put them up. DW does all the inside decorating and I do all the outside stuff. What I don't understand is why every year I seem to be short at least one electrical cord for the outside lighting. I'm reusing the same decorations but every year I end up buying another 25 or 50' electrical cord. I guess I must be using them "somewhere else" during the year and coming up short at Christmas time. You'd think I'd have a surplus of cords by now. :)

They probably escaped with the missing socks!

We went to Costco today. I was a bit concerned about potential excessive Black Friday traffic, but to my surprise, there were fewer customers than on a regular day. Black Friday is now just dark grey, and fading.

We bought food staples for our regular shipment to family in Venezuela. This will be the 50th shipment, with no issues.

Swapped out the off-road tires for winter tires on the car while waiting for the temps to warm up. Then we went out on a snow bike ride. It was the first ride on snow with my new fat tire bike and I had a blast. Then back home for turkey broth making. The whole house smells incredible.

First cold, frosty morning of the season, had to be careful walking the deck to change out our lights from plain white to multi for the Christmas season.
DH will get the decorations down later today and add the rest of the outside lights. I do not let him get up on the ladder in the ground anymore, so we just place them around the garage and front area that is accessible with a single step stool.
I will start on the house decor and finish with the tree in a day or two. It takes me longer now!

I canned 14 half pints of turkey broth. The broth was actually made yesterday, using the carcass of our Thanksgiving turkey, but it got late so I stowed it in the fridge overnight and canned it today. After lunch, I plan to put up our porch lights for Christmas.

Finished the last of the turkey today. Buying a small one was a good idea. The only things left are a container of turkey stock and one of turkey gravy. They'll keep for a while.

Woke up and went up to the ski resort with the better-half. This was her first day of the season, so we only did a half-dozen runs before hopping back on the bus and heading home. Lines were starting to form so it was a good time to leave. Turkey, green beans and gravy for lunch!
