Okay, it snowed. We've had winter now. I'm ready for spring.

Actually last night, went to what was billed as a Rock and Roll band performance in Johnstown PA.

The place was pretty well packed with no one seemingly under 70. Found a seat in a back corner next to two properly soused guys hanging onto some beer cans. Gues that is one way to keep from falling off the chair. Seems everyone knew them.
The band members could barely walk, the sound guy could not get the all the mikes working well.

Then the band began to play.
Nothing like listening to RnR at 60 beats per minute, the singer doing a good impression of half octave range. And actually remembering some words.
I went and got bottle of water. Then the one of the half in the bag guys started to dance, all 300lb of him shuffling about with glee.
Then I left.
A mini BTD at $10.- and a half hour drive.

Donated blood, then went Christmas shopping.

Slept in a little, looked out to see it was pretty foggy here today, so I walked in my neighborhood with DH. Then I met a friend for aqua aerobics, came home for a bit and met another friend for taco lunch. It is a nice day today here for December, 47 and sunny, so DH and I went for an extra walk. I have some presents I need to wrap, but maybe I will do that tomorrow.

Rained yesterday so roads are icy so stayed home and built a sleigh for the granddaughters. I have numerous X country skies and used a shipping pallet for the material to build a snow sleigh for the girls when they come to the ranch. It is nothing fancy but will work. I will get a quilt from the secondhand store sometime to line the inside when they ride.

I had a few sleds my dad made me as toddler young kid. One was an apple crate about 18 inches tall mounted on a sled with steel runners. I had a picture at one of me inside,

but I can't seem to find it. My baby photo book is missing and that kind of upsets me. Some picture of mom and dad etc..

Never mind looking back when you've done so well looking forward to having a hand-crafted snow vehicle for your grandkids!

This is the best and most creative reuse of a pallet that I’ve ever seen!

Heavens, no. But it showed that my plan to scare away the snowstorm worked. At least that's my story.
That is one powerful snowblower amulet. It worked all the way to SW PA.
Mine is still in the shed.

That's cool. Nice sleigh. Now, about the 8 tiny reindeer. Would you be good with weiner dogs? :)

Played, based on the weather and end 0f year travel/social plans, likely my last round of golf for the year. Very comfortable 59 degree weather.

Now wrapping and packing presents, and labeling boxes, to drop off at the Post Office tomorrow. That will complete our Christmas/Hanukkah/Holiday gift mailings.

I came back for one day to wrap up digging on the commercial job. We have a cast of plenty too many here.

Did a Roth conversion this morning to hoover up most of the value of our over-withholding for 2024. The Federal calculation is easy. In my state taxes, however, there are many "cliffs", so calculating the Roth conversion headroom is trickier. There's also the fact that I have a basis in my tIRA and I cannot know for certain exactly how much of any distribution is non-taxable until I know the year end value of my tIRA. I always just hedge on the conservative side by a couple hundred dollars.

Stayed home today and worked on a few projects. I prepared some pan-fried pheasant breast for lunch. OHHH my they are they delicious!! Season with a rub for a few hours and in the pan they went. Will take a walk later this afternoon it is supposed to snow today and evening. It is looking a lot like Christmas.

Went up to the resort to ski for a few hours. Conditions were meh, but I needed the exercise. Listened to a podcast on the bus ride there and back.

Yesterday did the last of Christmas shopping with DD
Today, having our duct cleaning guy out to vacuum out ducts and clean furnace, change filter.

Today is a "do nothing" day, after helping out with MIL in Florida last week and getting all our Christmas mailings together and off to the Post Office yesterday. (PSA: Use Online Enhanced Click-N-Ship for postage labels, it saves a lot). Tomorrow we are hosting a surprise "milestone" birthday party for youngest DS, so will help DW with some chores before his friends come by in the afternoon and take over. So I am getting my rest now :).

Days not over…got up around six, read a bunch of news, fake and otherwise. Weight workout for an hour…still able to bench 205 as part of the routine, probably 225 if I had a spotter. Breakfast, oatmeal and sausage….organic if it matters.
Going to play banjo for at least an hour, fiddle for a couple and then guitar. Wife is an NFL fan so I’ll help her watch broncos chargers. Then episode of 1923 the Yellowstone prequel. Bed by 11:00 sounds boring and I love it.

Went to the dentist for 6 month cleaning this morning.

This afternoon I am going to the dermatologist. I had Mohs surgery on my nose in February. Now I have bulging blood vessels on my nose. I am going to try Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to get rid of the blood vessels and clean up some other things on my face. I guess this could go in BTD also. $1200 for 3 treatments. I hope it works.

Yesterday, rode bikes on the rails to trails path close to our housesit in Dunedin, FL. Stopped at a brewery that is right on the trail. Had a brew, of course, and enjoyed some people-watching. They had an area for playing corn hole and a stage for a band. Lots of picnic tables to hang out on. Nice open-air vibe. The weather is glorious right now! Biked back to our housesit and enjoyed an evening in with the cute little pug we are watching.
