What did you do today 2025

We're currently in Mexico for 8 weeks (Jan - Feb) but found out that our rental wasn't booked for March, so we contacted the agent earlier today and made a deal to rent it for another month.

Tonight we went out for supper and with a group of friends. There was a pretty good band playing that we've seen before and the singer knew that I played bass, so they asked me to come up on stage and I played 4 or 5 songs with them.

After my lunch date yesterday with two old ladies (friends), ....
Had to laugh. Reminds me of the time my dad was complaining about "that old man up the street." That old man was 81 and dad was 79. I didn't point that out to dad, but almost lost it laughing.

The better-half and I took a private ski lesson today. It had been a few years and I'm glad we were able to squeeze it in. The instructor took quite a bit of video, which was super helpful. As an added bonus, it was fairly busy at the resort today, but we were able to skip all lift lines with our instructor and ski the entire time.

Heh, heh, Note to the Rich: Hire a ski instructor and avoid the lift lines! ;)

Took a ceramics class at the local art center. 9 adult students and 1 instructor. We hand built garden mushrooms that the instructor will fire. In 2 weeks we glaze them. It was kind of fun, I have not worked with clay in a long time. What I really want and they do not offer is instruction on a pottery wheel.

My wife and I took the truck south to my friend's house for some long needed repairs and maintenance.
I had ordered new ball joints and axle ujoints and other bits and pieces. He has a lift and experience with these trucks, and will do all that and much more.
We got to drive a new road to us, across the hills from Castle Rock to Stella, WA along the Columbia River.
Afterword, we visited the quilt store in Castle Rock on the way home. It was a good road trip day.
I spotted this old derrick rig on the slough east of Stella. " Viking"

I don't think it has worked much lately.

I have not figured out what they were spelling up at the end of that boom with the steel.

They're already well aware.

Many of our friends hire either a private ski instructor or "host" to accompany them most days of their ski vacations. When you're paying over $300/day per person for a lift ticket and several thousand a night for accommodations for a family of four (plus flights, meals, rentals, etc.), spending a few hundred dollars extra each day for VIP treatment is a minor add-on.

My previous trips to the Islands as a tourist are starting to sound like a bargain! For that kind of money, we could have done all the paid touristy stuff our "package company" tried to sell us. I never knew skiing was that expensive. Of course, I never tried it either.

I guess I'm not the first person to think of hiring a ski instructor to avoid the lines.

Baked cookies, made chili, removed a beaver downed tree from a friends creek, ordered some leather working supplies, and did a little more work on my 3d printer build.

Shoveled snow for a couple hours this morning. Going out to lunch with friends soon.

Worked on my golf cart, figuring out why the parking brake wouldn't catch. A worn part is the culprit, found new replacement on Ebay and $23 later the new part is on it's way.

Of course nothing is that easy, a couple screws were corroded in place and broke, so drilling them out, cleaning a bunch of pieces and actually getting to the worn part took a while.

As a sort of related small blow the dough, I also ordered up a new rubber floor mat since mine was torn and basically ready for replacement. Another $43 to Amazon for that.

I bought a new shower chair for my mum, assembled it, drove down to see her and swap out her old chair for the new one. I also brought her some shrimp (her favorite dish) and left her TV on Fox Sports.

Got a hair cut (from DW)

Smelled everyone else's delightful Super Bowl cooking odors here in the building. (Suddenly hungry!)

Moved my Diet Pepsi stash in from the car.

Hacked around on the ER site.

Went to church.

Got gasoline.

Just another day in Paradise.

Got out for a 15 mile bike workout on my favorite gravel roads. Have several endurance gravel bike races already on the schedule for spring. Time to start training up … and slimming down … for the season!

Did laundry, went to the grocery stores, took the moto for a lap around the lake. 37 miles, 40 minutes, 1 stop sign. Nice day out.

Went to the ranch for the day and when I left this morning it was -6 degrees. I got the line shack I built last summer and got the wood stove going. I went for a long 5 hour hike and I did find one horn on my journey. It was a blue bird day but cold and no wind. Got back to the shack at noon and had lunch. I than hung a 11-foot current assembly with draw string for opening and closing.
A beautiful day in paradise.

Worked out, walked a half hour to a hole-in-the-wall hamburger place for lunch and had a great burger and fries for about $6 (We're in Mazatlán), then went to the beach and sat with a few friends for a couple hours.

When we got back at our rental we did a Messenger video call with my parents (Canada), brother and wife (Dominican Republic), and nephew (Canada).

Now making supper and have Superbowl on in the background...the first TV we've watched since November.

Been burning slash piles at the back of our property. Base of about 30" of snow so been using the snow shoes. No choice. But dang do I dislike them. Hiked many a mile in them and still dislike them.
The mountain lion has been back to his elk cashe. We had a trail cam on it for a good month but gave it up when the snow got deep and we'd not seen him for awhile. Dang it!

Very interesting!!!! I have seen them in the wild here but not often. People get them on cams a lot. I have never got one camera. I have run into their kills though and that can be a little intimidating.

DS and I are on day 2 of a 6 day ski trip. Yesterday he snowboarded with an online friend, who he met once before, at Whiteface resort while I explored Lake Placid. Enjoyed the museum and watching outdoor hockey nearby. Last night we drove to Stowe, VT. Today we were both on the slopes at Stowe. The locals say it's the best snow in decades. No ice, just a little powder on top of packed powder. I'm not much of a skier, so I took it easy, but DS was all over the mountain today. I'm going to arrange a cross country refresher lesson and do a couple of days of cross-country skiing. I've never been to Vermont. It is beautiful here.

I love the atmosphere of ski resorts-families, people of all ages, everyone happy and friendly. DH has stopped skiing and has a gig on Saturday, so he stayed home.

I helped DW put a new cover on the ironing table, and installed a replacement keystone jack on the garage cable with one of those leviton throw away tools. My network bag is 100 miles away at the new house. I was lucky to find that plastic thing.
