What did you do today 2025

We went skiing at the resort and then spent some time in the evening planning our summer trip in more detail.

Getting ready for a 12 day road trip. First of the year. I'm so glad the weather is getting better so I can hit the open road.

I will scope out a few places we have considered moving to, but I'll be mainly goofing off. DW and DDs will join me mid-way through the trip. I drive, they fly.

Took a nap to celebrate national nap day. Will take another later today... Been practicing for years now. :)

I changed my oil and filter along with lubricating the front end of all the steering components now all set and ready to get on the road and do some camping.

I honored the day without even realizing it. Not sure if it's the same day every year, but I try to nap every day just in case.

I don't nap...never had tried it except when it happens by accident and I am up all night. But, my dog is napping now:

Got our place booked for summer beach trip. The place we went to before is booked, so had to look for a while to find one with a hot tub (grandkids must have-lol) that was available on the dates needed.
Found a lovely newer home, hot tub, BBQ, enough beds, and step off the deck onto the sand and beach. Perfect and less expensive than others. On a part of the coast we have not been too for a while, since my Dad sold his share of a beach home after Mom passed.

Finished putting down the lawn fertilizer on the "back forty" that I didn't do the other day. I'm late with it this year, it should have been done a month ago. Oh well.

I took the company 1 ton flatbed tool truck to get some long overdue service.
On the way there the transfer case blew, and I had to put it in four-wheel drive and limp in on the front axle only.
Plan was to drop it off and then take buses and ferries and buses to Sequim and get my car.
I am now on the last leg of the journey.

That is the passenger way at the: docks in Seattle. The last time I was on that structure we were removing those two gigantic cylinders that hoist it up sticking out the top of it. They weigh 35,000 lb each.
We took everything off of it that had hydraulic cylinders.
That included the entire swinging telescoping bridge that you walk across onto the ferry.

Now I'm up here. Getting loving from the neighbor dog.

My wife modified a safety vest for her and lined it with some fabric and batting for warmth.

Had an MRI on my foot. I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis for too long. Hopefully, the doctor will come up with a good game plan to get things fixed.

Reminds me of Sand Point Alaska (around 1974, a few hundred miles west of Anchorage) driving an old rust bucket F250 from the airport to town, bumpy dirt road. The rear axle detached at the transfer case. Hard to drive with driveshaft digging into the dirt road :)
Used my wide leather belt as a saddle hanging from the frame to hold up rear driveshaft. Engage four wheel drive and proceed. The belt lasted the remaining mile into town when it wore through and shaft again fell to ground.

Improvise and overcome!

0845 Dr. appointment, then a drive to the MD pharmacy to get the CDS prescription, then a stop at Micky D's for a bit of breakfast, then on to the hospital for an EKG pending an endoscopy next week. Busy morning. Then spread some grass seed and took a nap.

Chauffeured DW to various medical tests all morning. Annual check up for a couple of conditions. Then we went to our favorite restaurant. Times Grocery store. We picked up 3 different plate lunches (one turkey/dressing, one roast beef and one salmon steak). That will keep us eating for 2 days.

Don't forget to takes breaks between all that continuous eating, 😄

I need to get in the habit of posting to this thread.

I went out this morning to go grocery shopping. My tire pressure light was on, which happens when it's cold except it was nearly 50. Sure enough there was a screw in my tire. Took DW's car to the post office and supermarket. After lunch, went over to the tire shop to get that fixed.

Tonight I'm meeting some former coworkers for dinner. That should be fun. I haven't seen a couple of them since our site closed last May. Some of the others I've gotten together with a few times since.

7:30 meetup for bar dinner/drinks with the guys in my avatar tonight. It's my turn to buy so $120 goes out the window.
Have you and your friends tried the new Texas Roadhouse restaurant up in Huntsville? Pretty dang good place to hang out for food and drinks.

Ordered vole bait for the voles tearing up the front yard over the winter, and spread grass seed & topsoil over the little trenches the critters have dug.

Made plane reservations for our trip to our friends memorial service, leaving tomorrow. I ran across a weather article calling for a large storm in California and possible blizzard conditions in the mountains Th/F, don't want to drive in that! Double checked the NOAA website to verify.
Cost $20 plus miles, easy planning. And to be honest, neither DH nor I were emotionally ready for a 10-11 hour drive each way. Normally we enjoy it, as we travel to visit, but this is different.

It will be good to see the family, though. We have had a couple texts, she is asking us to help set up the service and we will be happy to do it.

It's a bit far for us to go as we walk a couple of miles on the Woodlands CC golf course before we hit the bar. We go to Ronnie G's in The Woodlands and we have a reserved table. Plus, they make popcorn for us (we supply it). The Roadhouse is very good though.

Yesterday, actually. My neighbor and I worked together to cut and dispose of some low hanging limbs on the maple tree that sits on our mutual property line. I was the one who climbed up into the tree with the chainsaw. A good thing the young wife was not watching.

Went up to the resort after lunch today and skied for a few hours. Snow was soft, sun was out, and the slopes were empty.

Today, we "did" our taxes. That is, we gathered all our documents and filled in the booklet our tax lady gave us. I even hate doing that and it's more drudgery than anything else, I suppose. Tomorrow, early, we'll call the tax lady and make an appointment with her to discuss our inputs and questions.
