I'm working in the coolest volunteer project ever. I can't even remember where I first read about it but the National Archives has a Citizen Transcription project where you pull up records from the National Archives and transcribe them. It's made much easier by OCR extracts that you can Cut and Paste to start. I'm working right now on transcribing records for Revolutionary War pensioners and the software does a remarkable job of reading cursive but it still needs polishing up.
