What did you do today 2025

I got MMR vaccine a couple weeks ago - being born in '63 I didn't know if I'd gotten the live virus vaccine or not at that time and figured better safe than sorry since I definitely didn't have natural immunity.
I was pretty sure I hadn't gotten it, but a titer was done to confirm.

I recalled being called down to administration in under grad and later grad school to be warned but each time rolled imto the office with a visable pregnancy and was told nevermind.

Making headway with the pantry rebuild. Top drawer is a double drawer and custom to fit the new spice bottles. Now it's on to the drawer fronts and doors...

OH home...Installed a left sided hand rail to the basement -compliments the original right side rail. Feel safer as we age in place. One day, gotta do the same for the loft.

Loaded up the pickup truck with gear and model airplanes and went out flying R/C airplanes. And one gyrocopter, which made one flight of about five seconds. I have no idea why but it did not respond to any control inputs once airborne. I gave the wreckage to a fellow club member who also has a kit for the same one that he hasn't put together yet. Mine still had some parts that could be salvaged by him if needed. And I'll stick to fixed-wing models from now on. All my other models flew just fine.

Waited all afternoon for the washing machine repair person. They came, diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and now I get to wait all afternoon next Monday when they will return.

Yesterday went stayed at DS & DIL home to be in town while they were out of town for the day. They don't like leaving any distant with the girls being in school and babysitter just in case they need something, or an issue happens. We did some shopping while we were there. From a small community we don't have the variety of shopping. A fun day and ate out was awesome.

Today going to ranch and install an oil base sealer on the cabin. I have some asparagus to plant and will see if I can find an out of the way place to plant the crowns. I also will take some time to turkey hunt for an hour or so.

Bought a battery powered hedge trimmer and trimmed boxwoods, barberries, and spireas. Leaf/brush cleanup and burn. First paddle of the year.

Did some de-thatching by hand on some rough parts of the yard and bagged it up, dug up some dandelions, and switched out the storm door glass for the screen - it was almost 85 degrees today, a near record for central IL!

Finished up the day with a short 1.5 mile walk, ~15 min/mile pace - got to see a great blue heron trying to catch a fish.

I also was on a dandelion jihad this morning. They are pernicious weeds.

It's a cold (40's) rainy day here, so I am being lazy. I paid a couple bills this morning, called my dad, and goofed off. After lunch, I walked the dog. We ran the last half because I was getting cold. This afternoon after I do some reading, I'll watch the OKC/Memphis game from last night and have a cup of coffee. I want to see how OKC came back. I'm pulling for them since it looks like my Nuggets are imploding.

Out running errands with DH, we found a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant for lunch--delicious enchiladas with beans and rice.
Now home having a small bowl of Tillamook Sea Salt and Honeycomb Toffee ice cream that I found last night--Oh My YUM!
Glad it only comes in a smaller container.

Cut my hair myself with electric clippers. Been doing it for the last 20 years or so. It's not so much the cost or even the hassle of going someplace, it's just that it's nearly impossible to find someone who can handle straight thick hair on a guy-unless I want a buzz cut. It grows fast so I need to do it every 4 weeks or so and I don't like it too long.
I do miss the shampoos though.

Took the dogs to the vet to get tested for heart worms and get on heart worm, flea and tick meds for the season. I generally avoid seeing the bill, however, when I simply handed over my card, the tech said, "but it's over $500." If only it was possible to 'un-know' that info, but oh well.

Dogs can be expensive, but worth every penny.

Went with my friend to a huge community wide garage sale, then took a nap, fed cats, and now we are watching tornados skirting our city to see if we need to catch our cats and go in the basement.

Got out for a gravel road workout on my bike today. Felt good. For the week 80 miles, 8,600 ft of hill climbing and one rattlesnake sighting so far.
I have been adding more climbing to my weekly rides. I did 2200 feet today, but with 20 mile an hour winds. Nature’s training aid, the wind, kicked my butt.

I did 20 miles, minus 18.

I did actually walk a tad over 2 miles, with a couple of rounds on the weight machines for good measure. Pulled out the 3mm attachment and trimmed the shagginess. Not much else.
