What did you do today 2025

Went to the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. If you in town and interested at all in the topic, I highly recommend a visit. Better than Bourbon Street by a long shot.

Doggies went for a long walk, 4 miles. Replaced a dead flowering bush in the yard with another flowering plant. Added a few more flowering plants to the yard. Had the drip system guy over to make sure everything gets water. They all look good. Then went for a short bike ride.

Sitting on the patio now with a drink in hand and listening to a symphony of frogs in my creek.

… and what I did today … skipped out on my part-time consulting gig and put 25 gravelly hilly miles on my gravel bike.

Planted trees, turkey hunting. Just can't seem to everything done these days. Guy called asked if I would help tear down an old sheep barn a three-sided one open to the south. I have to mow tomorrow for the State Research Center Campas. It takes 8 hours of mowing to get it all one time. I will start that tomorrow then I will go paddle fishing at the end of the week.

Street, I received a phone call today from a 406 area code. I answered. A very nice person asked me about hunting in Montana last year. I had a nice visit with her, spent a while on a map telling her where I hunted and where I harvested an elk.

Some may have found it invasive, but I wanted to help her do her job and help the wildlife management that allows us to hunt.

She had a good day, so did I.

Wish you could all come and enjoy some elk on the grill here tonight.

Today the roof cleaners come to de moss, clean the gutters, skylight, and re-seal some nails and vents.

Spent a pleasant 1.5 hours in the waiting room having tires rotated. Now hunkered down…

A little dip buying in GDP news (i hope), cutting the lawn, then start loading gear for backpacking trip in smokies next week.

Big storm damage in Eastern Ohio yesterday... electric off 11 hours, 32 feet of fencing on the ground and a 35-40 foot tree is fallen. Yard has much tree litter as well. Another day at the retirement office. Only good thing...I get to decide which one to do first. Tree is cut but in situ. Materials ordered for fence.

Today I designed a custom raised bed greenhouse on SketchUp, ordered the stuff for curbside pickup, and am waiting for someone to load it. I've been here at Home Depot for 20 minutes. I think they are trying to out wait me, but I'm not in the right clothes to handle 4x8 foot sheet goods.

ETA: When I went in and asked about loading, they did get right on it. There was just the one sourpuss that was trouble. The other workers were ready to do their job. But when I got to Tractor Supply they wouldn't load the cow panels. They said they were prevented from loading in a mini van by policy, so I wrangled them in myself, using the 16 foot 2x4's for support (as I had planned).

My hare-brained scheme to build the raised beds into the hillside. I need to move 1 cubic yard of dirt from the middle to the sides:

Bad news for me today. Went to the dentist and learned I'll have to have a tooth extracted. Implant advised, so my dental bill this year will be way higher than usual.

Fortunately, my dentist is a real gem, so I'm not worried about it. She said it would run about $6K, which seems to be in line with others I've heard about.

Mowed the back yard yesterday and the front/sides today.

Played with the neighbor's dogs a little bit. Their adult daughter & family is staying there another week pending buying a house and they have two nice dogs tied up in the back yard. They (the dogs) don't get enough attention though, so when I'm on that side of the house I normally go over to give them some attention for a bit. I would like to have a dog, but DW has a mild allergy so that's off the table.

Later today I'll put down some lawn fertilizer in anticipation of rain during the next few days. A while back Home Depot had the Scotts 4-step fertilizer package on sale so I bought it, now I have to spread it at the appropriate time.

Went in for my pre-op appt for next weeks surgery. I have to get a tendon cut and nerve decompressed due to severe plantar fasciitis. 2.5 weeks in an air boot followed by 6 weeks of PT. Sounds like my summer of hiking may be derailed. I have lodging reservations at Yellowstone near the end of Aug. I'm really hoping recovery goes quickly.

That looks awesome! I have had a small garden the last 2 years, but surprisingly, in my first year of retirement I decided to skip this year. My plan is to do a raised garden next year!

Following a medical appointment, DH and I went for coffee and then for a walk in a local park (on a very pretty state trail which runs through the park).

Took GF to her Dr Appointment for a shot in her back, then came home and cut my grass and then laid on my mat out in my pool and burnt myself LOL

Back home from Pittsburgh.
The city was trashed by windstorm. many streets barricaded due to trees, power lines blocking the roads. Huge trees sideways, many crashed into houses. Much of the city without electric, Lots of traffic lights out.
Luckily, people treating non-functioning traffic lights as stop sign, slow but safe proceedings of traffic. Power company estimates another three to four days for full electric service.

And, another severe thunderstorm is imminent. This time closer to home.
