What did you do today 2025

Got the garage door fixed … broken spring. Then a Twenty-five mile workout on my gravel bike.

Now trying to figure out the flight and travel logistics for our trip to eastern Mediterranean with 99 year old father-in-law. He travels with a huge suitcase and won’t be easy to get him and suitcase through airports and to cruise.

Drove to the beach, had a nice lunch, drove up the coastline a bit, then home. Lovely sunny day, not too much traffic.

I went to the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

I stopped by my dad's grave this afternoon. He was born 100 years ago today. May 1, 1925. He lived through the Great Depression. A squad leader in the US Army infantry, overseas for a 2 years. Played Major League baseball for another 3 years and farmed for the next 50 years. Happy
Birthday dad.

We had rain, snow and hail all day today. I went to a local art showing and found a sunny 30 minute window in the evening to walk the dogs before the sky started angrily spitting again.

Early AM drive to pick up a couple of prescriptions and a minor grocery run on the way home. Mixed up a few gallons of Ortho weed killer and sprayed that on the emerging weeds to try to keep a lid on that before they get out of hand.

We shower our pups with love and care. I just avoid knowing the cost of that care.

One of our rescues had a particularly rough early life that required surgeries and other treatments. The only thing we told the vet at the time was, "Do whatever you think is necessary. We don't care about cost."
We recently took in a male cat who was injured in a fight. He was so sociable and really wanted to attach to someone. However, we already have 7 cats. So we spent $1000 getting neutered, shots, and several vet visits for the abscess on his leg. We found a perfect home for him in the nearby town where my daughter lives. She knows a family with a teen girl who is homeschooled and has wanted a cat forever. They have bonded with each other and we hear regular updates. It was worth every penny we spent.

Today, my husband and I went to lunch. Then I went all afternoon to estate sales with my friend. It has been a good day.

Hung out at camp, cut up a fallen tree. In a bit off to favorite dive for some blues and rock live band.

Coffee/breakfast with ROMEOs. (7:00 AM)
Went to HD and bought some lumber
Went to DD's house and used the lumber
Cleaned DD's A/C coil
Went to grocery store.

All of the above was before noon.

Went home, cleaned garage
Watched the weather as storms are coming.
Goofed off, played with the pup.
Watched it rain
Walked dog between T Storms.

Forty-Eight miles on a 4 hour gravel road workout with 4,300 ft of climbing up my favorite chunky gravel roads today. The trip back down was fun too!

A good day!

73 and sunny so 3000 feet of climbing on the bike, 30 miles overall. Art gallery opening, then date night with the Mrs.

I have so much to do but I decided to go to the ranch again today. A couple days ago I was there and harvested a beautiful turkey. My son harvested one last Sunday didn't take long so many up in the cedars a few need to be take out.

I will finish applying oil to the cabin. I also will reinstall bad tire on riding mower and do some mowing. I spent a half day yesterday fixing tires. Ohhh I dislike that task. I will check on alfalfa I planted two weeks ago, and I hope it has started to come up out of the ground. I planted trees last Monday so I need to water them also. Garden will be going in about 10 days from now.

I should be up hiking but maybe next week. I will travel a day to go paddle fishing it has opened but haven't had time to go yet.

Kids will be here sometime today for DIL sister BD party, and we are invited so will go to that late afternoon.

We volunteered for a community clean-up day at some nearby public lands. We do it every year since we recreate in the area.

A decade ago we were pulling out old TVs, car batteries and tires. Past few years it's been food wrappers, a few cans/bottles (including broken bottles), bits and bobs and fender clips, and the errant shell casing or cigarette butt. Less and less every year.

This morning went to DGS (age 9) track meet, then had lunch with son.
Tonight pick up other DGS (age 5) for dinner and a sleepover--maybe. He keeps asking to spend the night with Grandma and Papa, but has never had a night away from Mom and Dad. We plan to go get a book and toy after dinner, then bath and watch a movie. Hopefully , he will accidentally fall asleep!;)

Best news I heard all day.
And, thank you for your efforts!

The sunscreen comments reminded me to post. Two days ago had my semi-annual dermatologist appt. Three samples cut and about 7 freeze spots. I never get out of there without something to be froze or cut.

Being that I've had all three skin cancers basal cell, squamous cell and melanoma; I am on 6 months dermatologist visits for life. Better about sunscreen and a hat than I used to. But previous cumulative damage has done its part.

Highlight for us was that we found several illegal campsites and "disappeared" the fire rings along with any trace of a camping area by dead-scaping (i.e. piling debris) along with strategically placed rocks.

Picked up meds, diagnosed today with Lyme. It's been 19 months of joint issues and a good doctor finally ordered the blood work...28 days on an antibiotic.
You have my sympathy. I was diagnosed with Lyme during my thru-hike of the A.T. It hit me hard, so there was an early diagnosis. The antibiotic worked for me; I hope it does the same for you.

Interesting. More and more public lands are being closed to camping, due to people not picking up after themselves. That's a shame for people who responsibly disperse camp.
