What did you do today 2025

Rain on & off today although we did get a walk in between rains. DW had a Dr. appointment so I drove her in the 4WD pickup because she was concerned the road might be flooded in one place. I'll drive through the water ONLY IF I can see the pavement underneath, otherwise we'll take the long way around. In that area the water does not move fast so that's not a concern but today there was no flooding. While she was in the Dr.'s office I went to pick up a prescription and then back, then home.

Otherwise just hanging out here and watching some videos on youtube. Good way to spend a rainy day.

Got in a 20 mile gravel bike ride today. The route includes a 2 mile climb up from the river on a steep rocky road that once served as a gold mining era Stage coach road.

I'm doing the liquid prep right now for my Colon ostomy tomorrow ...... whoops ... time to go (ha)
After ever colonoscopy, I always had a desire for a big bacon cheeseburger. You need a reward for all the effort.

Dazzled by this time in May.

DS drove me to DM’s house to declutter her patio/storage area. We have DM’s permission to do this. We have been coming a few times a week for a couple weeks now while DS is on leave until her cast is removed. DS talks with DM while I put on my dust mask and gloves to purge, then helps after DM goes off to do other things. There are decades worth of stuff, important papers mixed with junk mail plus printouts of email. Then there are the sentimental letters, photos, mementos of past trips and events. And that’s just the paper! It’s daunting.

To get in the right mindset, I bought access to an online decluttering course. As I declutter, I listen to the hosts talking about decluttering strategies, without being interrupted by ads. Plus there are recordings of their live decluttering sessions for the past 5 years. Yes, it’s the basically variations of the same message, but the key is to start doing the thing, put effort into the tasks that are effective, and keep doing it.

We backfilled the second shell/core and then loaded up to move to the next gig.

I had the truck and trailer in for service and inspection in April. They repacked the fan clutch swivel, it was leaking an excessive amount of air and would not pass an inspection.
Unfortunately they fixed it too well. The fan never came on today.
The truck overheated pulling Eli Hill out of the Puyallup valley. I limped up to the job and shut it down and unloaded the excavator while it cooled down, then headed down the hill. It cooled right off once I had good air flow. I made a date with the truck shop for Tuesday.
My 1 ton work truck has a date at another shop Tuesday. It is " take your trucks to the shops" day, apparently.

Played music with my other retired friend. We started learning jazz a few years ago, formed a combo, are gigging and just having a great time at it. Playing music during what would otherwise have been a workday is the biggest gift that retirement has been giving (the larger combo practices on the weekend, since the rest of 'em have day jobs still). Though about half today's practice session was on the back patio drinking coffee enjoying the beautiful weather.

Went to the ranch and got the canoe out of storage and advertised it on a local radio small town free sell or give away program. I didn't even get my phone in my pocket and was sold.
He wants to use it on the Yellowstone and I hope he gets as much enjoyment as I have with it.

Four mile dog walk along the river. Took my step-mother-in-law out for lunch at a brewery for her 80th birthday. Spent the afternoon trouble shooting the hot water three way valve in the camper. Think I have it fixed but it will wait until tomorrow. We have a bunch of wine to drink in storage before our move out west, so tonight we're drinking a 2018 Barbera. Busy Memorial Day weekend at the RV park. Lots of people (strangers) helping other people (strangers). Nice to see.

Attended our grandson’s high school graduation. We were proud to see him as Valedictorian, since they only announced it yesterday. He’s going to attend the college in our city (90 miles from his home). He will be our third grandchild to leave home to come here, which we love, because we go to movies or out to eat with them. By the time they leave, we are all very close.

Got up at 4:30 AM as I could not go back to sleep. Walked the dog at 5:00 AM. Going to meet a friend for breakfast at 8:00 AM and then not sure what's in store for me.

Yesterday a 25 mile “active recovery” ride, then helped my wife frame more of her prints. She has a gallery opening August 1st, but wants all her images ready to go before we head into the summer travel season.
Today, a hike with friends up an old stage coach road. Supposed to be hot here so getting an early start.

Yesterday, meet a friend for a ride on a new gravel MTB trail. After 3 miles, he was done with that. Switched to rails to trails path and roe into town for lunch. Today, morning workout then to in-laws for a cookout and checkup on them. In there late 80s.

At this moment, assessing a change in portfolio strategy over coffee

Dash light lit up signalling my yearly oil change. Took it into the local Ford dealer and dropped it off. Two hours later we returned, paid the bill ($103) and went to the valet stand to get the car. The young man there looked at my paperwork, "Oh, you're the guy with the stick shift!" Yep, I replied. "Let me go find someone that can drive it up for you" He disappeared for a few minutes and finally my car appeared, driven by an old mechanic he found. I laughed all the way home.

Today is family dinner night:love:, kids and grandkids are coming over. This time I am not cooking, so I can spend more time visiting. DH is going to Olive Garden to get one of their "Family Meals". I have a veggie tray and cookies for dessert.

the coyote attacked my little friends Daisy and Charlie dog. Luckily they escaped, and I am hosting them in the fenced yard at the apartment so they can have outside time and take care of business safely.
They come over for a while a few times a day. It is a welcome break from working on the house.

Chaos can probably handle a coyote easily and they would avoid him, but the girls were out alone and Daisy has no sense of the danger until it may be too late.

If it were me, next up would be a nap!

The song dogs have been really hungry and thirsty around the poderosa. With 3 dogs we have a morning rotation going. First the 35 lb dog that hates coyotes goes out to do his business. Than the 35 lb dog that is sensible goes out. Only after the all clear from the first 2, than our 55 lb puppy that likes to play with coyotes goes out.
If there's a lot of singing and barking from the coyotes, everyone stays in till daylight.
We have about an acre around the homestead fenced, but is just to keep the buzztails and the javelina out.

Volunteered for a local charity event, so spent the day with the better-half and friends managing one of the aid stations way out in the desert. Just a big boozy dance party in the middle of nowhere as the endurance racers came through.
