What did you do today 2025

I have about 1,000 sq. feet of tile (12" x 12") in my home and I'm going room by room, doing a deep clean of the grout. Scrub once withTSP, wait 20 min., scrub again, wait 5 min., then rinse three times with a fresh bucket of clean water each time - upper body workout with lots of farmer carries thrown in. And I'm soooo glad I got a gardening cushion for my knees!

Had breakfast with a lady friend who is soon to be on her way to an independent/assisted living facility soon. :(

Steam cleans tile grout quickly and easily. (y) Just an FYI

Yesterday changed out the screen door on front door. Wife and I changed out the steel door from house to garage. We got a door that has window and screen incorporated into the steel door. We like to be able to see out in the garage now.

Went to the ranch and hung some shades at the ranch cabin. They came from our home that we replaced with induvial window shades from bay window.

Young rancher stopped by to say he will be cutting hay on my place this week.

Today and the next three days are forecast to be "unseasonably warm"; i.e., HOT. So our plans are to stay home and monitor the performance of the A/C.
Our 2nd/3rd floor unit was running nonstop the past couple of days trying to keep up. It is going to be very hot the next week, so I went out and checked everything last night. Added 1lb of refrigerant to the unit as it was low. Hopefully that does the trick (and glad I did it prior to waiting all week). DW made a comment that it felt like a sauna upstairs.

Best of luck to your unit this week!

Still using long johns here most days. No heat on in house but we could and make it more comfortable. We use our AC a week or so in the afternoons per year. I could live without air but not a heating stove.

Picture is of me on course at last weekends 100k gravel race in Portola, CA.

Raced with one of my kids. Was kids first gravel bike race so definitely a learning experience. Got to admit that I’m hard wired for competition and was very difficult to dial that back to be social ride and learning experience for the kid rather than a heart pounding race event for me.

Looking good. I invested in a top tube bag for both bikes and no longer ride with my jersey pockets so stuffed. For me it was a game changer.

Watched the Pacers destroy the Thunder last night. Game 7 on Sunday will be exciting.
Great series! Terrible Haliburton injury, but was playing on strained leg..... OKC team; those dudes are beasts. All said and done, will wait for college hoops. More fun to watch. And Wimbleton starts today!

It was too bad Haliburton went down early. He was off to a great start. It would have been a better game with him.

I may be flying to Fort Wayne this week to pick up a car. I have never been there, so it should be fun.

Best of luck to your unit this week!
So far it's chugging along just fine. Even a trip to the mailbox was miserable - 95° and 59% RH. And no matter what the electric bill turns out to be, it's worth every nickle. Both of us grew up without A/C and it is not a fond memory.

It’s happening!!! Just made travel plans to attend son’s thesis presentation! He has earned his doctorate in physics and time

We couldn’t be happier for the kid!!! He has worked hard and now time to celebrate.
Congratulations! I look forward to hearing word of his Nobel Prize when he figures out how to make more time.

I'm on a Facebook group that limits membership to people who grew up in my small town in TX. Saturday morning I checked for new posts and was shocked to see a photo of this old coconut which the poster said he had run across in a veteran's museum nowhere near my hometown. It caught his eye because the "To" addressee on the coconut lived in our town and the info card next to it in the display case said a Navy Seabee had mailed it to his sister during WWII.

The Seabee was my uncle, my mom's youngest brother. He was initially stationed in the Aleutian Islands but his unit was shipped out some time in 1943 and since all mail was censored, he couldn't tell the family where he was. He gave them a hint by sticking a 3cent stamp on that coconut and mailing it to his sister, my mom. :)

I grew up with that coconut. It rattled around in my parent's garage for more than 50 years, until my dad died in 1997, when mom went to a nursing home and we sold her house. I had no recollection of what happened to it, if one of my three siblings ended up with it, or how it came to be in that museum.

My sister is my only living sibling and the day the photo was posted happened to be her birthday - her 90th! She's still "with it", living independently at home and driving (small town). I called her to wish her a happy birthday and ask about the coconut. She's a member of the same Facebook group and had also seen the photo. We shared a laugh and she told me how it got to that veteran's museum. Turns out she had ended up with the coconut and her ex sister-in-law who was a volunteer at the museum had seen it while visiting from out of town. Her SIL thought the story was interesting and asked if she could put it in the museum and my sister gave it to her.

Not really much of a mystery, except to uninformed me, but seeing it on Facebook was a real blast from the past.

Travel Day from Phoenix to Rockford. Maybe I'm just excited about our move to Arizona, but the heat and humidity in Wisconsin today just zapped me.

Left Idaho Falls, Idaho this morning. It was meant to be just an overnight on our way, but I was impressed with the town. Beautiful waterfalls right in town. A put together downtown with all local shops. Very clean.
Now in Montana. Never been here before. The scenery is similar to Colorado, but with not nearly the level of development. Big spaces between towns. Gorgeous. Friendly folk.

Bought a new car for my DW yesterday. In and out in 2 hours. I had not pre-negotiated the deal.

DW only wanted a certain color. This made it more challenging. The cars in Colorado are more expensive than other parts of the country, especially in my area due to lack of competition. The best deal I could find was in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I could fly there for $130. The salesman would pick me up at the airport, and I would drive the car home. I was ready to buy the plane ticket. I decided to look at the local dealership website again. Low and behold, they had the car we wanted in stock. I took the offer from Ft Wayne in for leverage, and I was able to work out a good deal. Not as good as Ft. Wayne, but it was about equivalent considering I didn't have to fly and spend 2-3 days coming back.

I was in a similar situation. I wanted a very specific truck. I put out a request for proposal to the dealers within 90 minutes of me. There were three of them. I let them fight it out. I got what I wanted from a dealer about an hour away.

This is how I have done it in the past. This time I decided to look nationwide. The car aggregation sites like cars.com make it easier. Plane tickets are really cheap right now. I also like road trips. It is surprising that there are some dealerships that are significantly less expensive than everyone else. If nothing else, the quotes can be used for leverage locally.

I have a friend that owns a motor sports dealership, motorcycles, ATV’s, side by sides, snowmobiles, etc. They advertise all over Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas…. Their strategy is pretty much give the machine away, $100 over cost or similar, but then they know everyone buys accessories, add ons, service, warranties, financing kick backs from the banks and that’s were they make their money. I am sure the below market car dealers feel the same.

Local car dealers around here are falling into a buyer's market situation. I have been hounded with texts and emails from dealers I have done business with for the last 30 years (Ford, GM, VW) and the offers are getting better. The local Ford dealer in our small town of Conroe has hundreds of F 150's in stock just getting dusty.

Plus, they have a lineup of unsold Maverick XLT truck hybrids that last year were all going for $5 K over sticker.

The GM dealer has lease deals with are tempting. My buddy in the M shirt in my avatar just leased a $42,000 2025 Equinox RS EV for under $300/month for 36 months with a reasonable amount down. Yikes! That was a 12,000 miles per year lease contract, too.

5 mile hike up and past the big “M” in Missoula MT. My wife is in the lower right with one of our dogs. Our dogs become conversation pieces on the trail. We’ll walk into downtown for dinner.

We had a break in the hot weather and since the forecasted rain didn't happen I took the opportunity to mow the front half of the yard, rested for an hour, then mowed the other half. A 4-year-old grandniece was visiting too, to give DW something to keep her busy. The grandniece's two older brothers were with grandma at an indoor skydiving location in Virginia. They've been there before and loved it, but the 4-year-old is a bit young for that yet. DW and Nova had a nice time learning drawing, the alphabet, and a little bit of cooking. She's a quiet little girl and as long as she's got attention and something to do she's happy. Getting all of DW's attention for hours is a rare treat for her so that made her day.

I finally got the approval for a new king mattress under warranty. Ours is only 5 years old with 2 large divots. The divots started 3 years ago. We said enough. Lets buy a new mattress. I said let me see what I can do for a warranty. It took over 2 weeks of the factory ignoring me. I had to send pictures of the divot placing a long stick from one side to other and message the divot. Now rolling to my left in bed is literally not a uphill battle.
