What did you do today 2025

Went to get some fasting lab work done, stopped for breakfast and coffee, then Petsmart for dog food and treats, found a cute doggie splash pad on sale, so since I had a coupon for $15 off everything....
Now home in the AC, hot week this week, at least for here. predicted mid 90s

Another day in Montana. Only today was a little disturbing. Some dude, who appeared drunk, had his dog attack our dogs on a trail (we keep ours on a leash, his was not) and tell us to “go back to California”. Which was kind of funny since he was wearing a California T-shirt. Moving onto to the next town. Bozeman didn’t feel right to us and that incident was the crescendo moment. Someone referred to Bozeman as BoAngelus. We really liked Missoula though.

That is terrible. 50 years of traveling the US and I have never encountered a situation like this. Hope the dogs and DW are ok. I will say that I carry bear spray on all outings now. Would want to be response able to four or two legged confrontations.

We had bear spray as well. The incident was weird. Bozeman was weirder. We had a good day in Yellowstone. Home tomorrow. The whole crew is ready to be home.

Spray the dog if needed, but make sure you give the owner a good dose too.

Didn't get much done but putz all day. I did have a tree guy come ovah to the house about taking down a large ash tree in front yard.
I want to plant aspens in the corner of the lot and landscape that area.
Took some long bike rides and did some time in the garden. Picked a couple of tomato, beets leaf's, dill and a pepper for a salad this evening.

Replaced the power seat control switch on one of my vehicles. Bought replacement switch off ebay for cheap, quick 30 minute job, switch located on side of the seat. Now all directions work: front/back, base up/down/angle, and seat back angle.

DW and I have been fixing some really bad DIY in a house we bought as our retirement home. The last few days I have been working on the shed/outbuilding. Its fairly large 15X25. But dang nothing is plum and the windows must have been put in by 5 year old children. It would be easier to do it right to begin with because undoing and redoing is big work in high humidity Georgia this time of year. I have fixed two and have one more to go. Hopefully tomorrow I can scratch that off this list. Then its new roof decking and re-roofing.

Did my first hike this morning since my foot surgery in May. It was 3.7 miles, and my foot held up fine. It is a start.

I hiked in a state park that I can see from my house. I had never been there because you have to pay to get in. This year I did a micro-BTD and paid $29 with my car registration to get an annual state park pass. What a bargain. There are many miles of beautiful trails in the park.

It was green. Some really nice flowers. Pretty little birds, and 2 deer crossed my path. One buck in velvet.

Thank you.

When I got home, I showed my DW the pictures. She asked if we could go tomorrow. I told her next week and we could get lunch on the way home. Our favorite pizza place is on the way.

Helped some friends move. Second time in a year as he found out he has ALS and the last one didn't work with a wheelchair.

He has gone downhill so quickly in the past 6 months... He's only 55.

First bike ride since returning home from Italy. It's been a rough few days of allergies, but I mustered through and checked off that box for the day. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

Met with a landscaper to discuss a boulder wall I want built. Went for a paddle. Went to town for some weed killer. Took down some trees until I ran out of fuel. And went to town for fuel.

Ugh, Our refrigerator went out sometime yesterday, DH heard a couple of "funny" sounds then noticed water dripping ( was from ice maker). I looked through the manual and did what I could to check. No water, no ice, not holding temp.
Have a repair person coming tomorrow to check.
We went out last night and looked at new ones. This one (LG) is eleven years old and there is a 10 year warranty, of course!
Packed up the perishable food and took to DS.

I had moved our RV from the property out to the Dungeness spit county campground on Tuesday in preparation of the fireworks noise. We spent the night last night out here. It was grand. The temperature was in the '50s and it was breezy so there was plenty of noise in the trees but no big booms for our four-legged friends.

Long walk with the doggies. DW made chicken enchiladas. Getting back into cycling after hiking in Montana.
25 miles with 2000 feet of elevation gain.
Tonight it’s fireworks watching off the patio.

Got out on a 23 mile road ride with 1,800’ of elevation gain today. For a few miles hooked up with a small group of riders in a paceline. Pacelines with cyclist I don’t know make me very nervous. Doesn’t take much for an inattentive or inexperienced cyclist to overlap their front wheel with the rear wheel of the rider in front of them and everybody goes down!

Packing up now for a quick trip to Madison, Wisconsin. Unfortunately dear wife is grounded with the flu so I’ll be flying solo.

DH and I went to a Hyundai dealer to test drive the Ioniq 5. Easygoing sales guy, no other customers around, service shop closed, and not much traffic on the normally busy road. When we got home, DH churned the French Vanilla ice cream mix he’d made the night before, and friends came over to share.

A casual day after yesterday's activities. Spent the afternoon lounging at neighbors pool re-hydrating. Riding in the morning(sunday), then final trim board on deck and sizing n final prep for paver pads for steps. Will wait until after monday rain to start gravel bed work. Obtained all the materials Friday morning with neighbors new Duramax Siverado. What fun to drive. Nearly 2 tons of stone, barely noticed.

Still in the process of retiring :) Casual day today. Working on creating a new routine, per my therapist's advice. Went to the community gym, 45 mins of cardio on the treadmill, some pulling on the weights, took a small stroll and then came home. Wifey and I made fried fish for lunch. Decided to make it on the covered patio (instead of at the kitchen stove to keep the lingering smells out); decided to break open a cold smirnoff ice grape for me, and DW's favorite - Mike's hard mango lemonade - in sweltering 85-90 degreee weather; fish came out real well. Ate it on the patio, started watching "When life gives you tangerines" on netflix, done about 5 episodes so far - nice romantic show. Spoke with a friend from where we used to live earlier, updated them of our plans, and general chit chat. Hoping to close the day with some oatmeal and fish, and hit the bed by 10.

37 mile ride, but the rest remains unfinished. Didn't realize today was the day we were shopping for new bedroom furniture..

Yesterday I finally had time to replace the two damaged front wheel studs (one on each side) on my '79 El Camino. I also replaced 16/20 of the lug nuts since I was missing one that fell off due to one of the studs being too short.
I'm toying with the idea of driving the El Camino around 450 miles (8-10 hours) each way to an all El-Camino car show in Indiana in a few weeks, but it's going to depend on the weather forecast as the time gets closer.
Plus, I seriously dread the thought of driving through the Chicago area in a 46 year-old vehicle.

With no air conditioning.

In July.

The other option is to go the long way around Lake Michigan, but that adds over 100 miles and another hour. Most likely either way we would split the trip into 2 days getting there, 2 days in Indiana, and 2 days getting home.
