What did you do today 2025

Shoveled snow this morning. Only a few inches, so it was pretty easy.

Purchased TT from Amazon and installed on laptop.

DW purchased plane tickets for her and the daughters to go to Texas during spring break. I'll drive. We will visit my family. We will then look at some schools for DD2. TAMU, UT, and Baylor.

We received our SSA-1099 forms today so I entered that data into TurboTax. One step closer to getting that done.

Outside temperature now is 47°F and we're forecast to get 3 to 8 inches of snow tomorrow, depending on who's forecast one listens to. I hope we get a foot, DW is hoping for nothing at all.

Very cold here so stayed home today. A very short walk with wind and temp it is a dangerous day.

Went cross country skiing and soaking in hot springs with the better-half and her friends.

Sunny and cool, beautiful day here. Went for a moto ride to lunch in the mountains with a few of the guys.

Ate out for the first time in 2025! Dennys! Of course, I used the AARP discount card. What else?

The old ways die hard.

Well, waiting for the kids to get here they are at DIL family ranch and will be stopping for lunch and will get to see granddaughters. My little one will be two last day of January. She is such a blessing and joy for us.

I will be clearing snow later on this evening when it stops. Right now there is only about an inch but that may grow a bit. They're still saying 3 to 5 inches but I doubt it'll be that much.

Touched up paint on the deck rails and recoated the steps. Wish I had known sooner to age the wood before painting. Some of the boards "out sapped" right through the paint. Grr.....

Clerared out and shredded half a bankers box of old statements, etc. Long overdue.

After procrastinating for a few years, today I replaced my dining room light switch with a dimmer switch. Took a whopping 25 minutes to accomplish, which included watching a 5 minute how-to video. DW is happy.

Run 19 of marathon training. Ordered electrolytes, gu gels, and turmeric curcumin to get through this. -4 degrees this morning, going to MIL’s to close one of her windows that somehow opened and frozen so that she can’t close it. Reorganizing photos on computer and installing new external drive. Watching tv and cooking a pot roast.

Good luck with the training, Ron. I hope you do well and don't hurt yourself. Take it from a guy here with two metal hips. The running years gave me a great cardio system, even at this age, my cardiologist is impressed.

I’ve been watching PBS/Nat Geo production The Greeks recently, and this history bit came up just yesterday. Persian Empire invasion attempt #1 490 BC. A runner ran from Marathon to Athens to announce the battle outcome, but before that the same runner ran from Athens to Sparta requesting help. A much longer distance- 150 miles. And then back!

Thanks aja! I know what you're saying. A while ago, I told DW's TKR doc that I was doing a post 70 marathon. He gave me some tips, but deep down he probably thought of me as a future client.

Shellac primer will cover that sap just fine. Good thing it's outside, the shellac does have a strong odor to it.

Yesterday was the snowfall, only about four inches or so but wet and heavy, the "heart attack" snow. So I let the engine do all the work. I also did two of the neighbor's driveways.

I don't know about shellac over paint. I am hoping this last coat does it, the boards seem to be more or less done sapping. Good on you for helping the neighbors. I trust that is not you blowing the snow in your face in the pic.

No, it just looks that way. The snow is being blown to my left but the camera lens is in line with the blown snow and my face so it looks that way. There's considerable distance between the two though.

Some interesting days well spent.

I really scrubbed the kitchen cabinets clean. For years, I had wiped them down occasionally but they had built up dirt to the point i was thinking they needed to be replaced. A few days ago I wiped one of with a cleaner and it went from dingy grey to white. I cleaned them all and now it almost looks like a new kitchen.

How about that! I recently thoroughly cleaned our cabinets but they weren’t in your dire condition. Just got rid of a few spots but yes the kitchen looked new afterwards!

Woke up to 12 degree cold snap. We went into a 90-minute drill for an 8:15 am appointment in the frigid city.

Driving down the highway, and over the bridge, I thought of many mornings when I made that drive for commuting, and sure didn't want to.

We entered a very modern medical hi-rise with little difficulty. Parking is underground, with a large valet lobby. Two elevators later we entered the specialty, and went to the exam room.

Two saline syringes and a yank, and I was a free man.
