What did you do today 2026

Took a break from hiking with the dogs and went up to the ski resort for one final day. Meh, but happy I went.

It hasn't been below freezing at night and I suspect many of the Colorado resorts might close early this season.

AM Dr. appointment with the back pain doc, then pick up a prescription, then to the grocery store and then home. A few hours later the replacement snow blower fuel valve arrived so I installed that, and now I'm here. And the snow blower is now completely serviced and in storage mode ready for the next snowfall, which hopefully won't happen until next December at the earliest.

Installed a security camera and no trespass/private property signs down at the creek. Usually just deer and small mammals come through, but hikers are becoming more common.

And wife is in Mexico for girls spa week! They had a shopping trip to town of Taxco … know for silver jewelry. Am sure she’ll coming home with a few new pieces.

morning coffee with my siblings, library to pick up a book, laundry.

Got up early and headed for the high country to hike and look for horns. Seven miles hiking in hard rough country and found a couple was a great day at the office. Got home and did a little work on the bobsled I'm rebuilding. Ready for a good meal and relax this evening.

Tomorrow off to the ranch and pack out the rear bob of a bobsled to make it complete. I called an outfit in Fort Worth TX that own a place that they border my place. They have some old junked ones and asked them if I could buy the iron. He said take it that is what neighbors are for. So, I will have to dig it out and sled it out of the high country tomorrow if it doesn't rain. It will be an all day job.

A few days ago I did 7 miles on what others said was an easy trail, and was kind of sore the next 2 days. But not too bad at least. I need to get in better shape because i liked it except the sore part.

Today 80 miles on the motorcycle, then laundry.

Today was a good day. I got off my but and shook of some winter funk. Cleared out some stuff from my basement and my garage (recycle, styrofoam, junk . . .), cleaned the nice car and started some yard work (raked up some leaves). Nothing particularly hard, but I've been so lazy this winter, it felt good to get some things done and move around more than usual. Topped it off with a trip to Costco to get some groceries. Tomorrow I have a golf lesson scheduled. Spring is happening!

I finished up and filed the taxes, and took my wife to PT and got a haircut. I was home yesterday for our 40th. It was a quiet evening in for us.

I joined the Hike and Happy Hour Club. They meet at a bar and Hike ~4 miles in the city. Many historic areas of the city and bars featuring craft brews. Hike first, drink after, of course.

Yeah I get a sore and stiff some but it is a good feeling to be tired physically for me. I'm push 70 years old so I expect some old age pain from what I do.
I remember being tired mentally when working and enjoyed the physical tired a lot more even though it hurt more. Lol

Got outside to enjoy a 53 degree sunny day in southern NH. Trimmed the deer-nibbled holly, did the annual prune-back of the burning bushes (now deemed invasive), chainsaw-cut back the out-of-control crabapple tree (safely), semi-weekly volunteer tax return turnover and had simulator golf round & dinner with a couple of friends, picked up the tab. Good day.

The ladies golf league at our club had a fun par 3 tournament this afternoon, where the funky format had challenges like hitting from a tee box at the next hole back to the green of the previous hole. I was the "A" player of my group, wait what? For those who are unfamiliar with golf scrambles, each foursome comprises an A player, B player, C player and D player, based on handicap. I am usually the B player. But between my handicap getting lower and also not having enough lower handicap players, some of the teams have the usual B player becoming the A player. We came in second, so that was pretty good.

State and Federal taxes filed and accepted.
We are actually getting refunds this year.

Spring has sprung, at least here. Mowed some of the lawn today, the part that gets the most sun. Took some photos of a storm drain easement that runs between our yard and the neighbor's yard and needs some maintenance done to the rocks they put in to keep a deep gully from forming. Sent the photos to the HOA, they're actually pretty good about doing maintenance when needed so I expect it'll be done in a few weeks at most. The high temperature was 80°F so I feel pretty safe about putting the snow blower in full summer storage. First time this year walking around outside with just a T shirt on (well, pants too).

Went to the Dentist yesterday for pain in a tooth. I wasn't surprised when they found it was broken all the way down to the root. He did the extraction (the part where they hit it with a hammer is fun) and then a bone graft to finish it off.

So, today is a take it easy day, soft food, nothing too hot or cold and no alcohol. Watching the Brewers/Cubs game and relaxing. But wishing for a cold beer.

Played with my new spindle sander, did some work for the HOA, mounted an analog rain gauge to my weather station, covered the kayak in anticipation of the storm moving in. Very windy - the kayak is tethered on my dock but bouncing around.

Put up a game camera down at our creek today. Wife requested and happy to get it up and running.

Usually we only have deer, fox and raccoons come thru. But have an occasional small black bear cruise thru and 1/4 mile away a mtn lion was sighted in our local park.

Ouch...

I am being held captive in my own home. All the window treatments are being installed today.
