What did you do today 2026

Went to church and sat with our sons family. Then we were invited to daughter in-laws Family for Easter dinner. Had a great time and watched the grand kids find Easter eggs at there ranch.

Mowed the front half of the yard, did all the trimming, and sprayed for weed again with the backpack sprayer. That's it for the day, I'm tired. I'll do the back tomorrow. Or maybe the day after.

Went to the knee doc. He confirmed the bone on bone in my right knee. :( Not a pretty sight, those X-rays..

TKR…too far gone for injections to help much.
That’s what I figured. Once a person gets to certain age, injections don’t help much. In DW’s case, she got injections - that didn’t work - then had to wait 6 months until the injections wore off before the doc would do the surgery. TKR will be a breeze for you after 2 hips.

Using the same surgeon for sure..

ouch!
you will do fine, you walk a lot already, so recovery will go well. Not fun, lots of PT, but some good pain meds usually!
keep us posted!

Swimming at the local Y with sister this morning.
Lovely sunny afternoon, still a bit chilly at night to plant my summer flowers, but soon I will be getting my hands in the dirt!

Kinda hard to explain but built a custom water heater cover that doesn't require framing and moving electrical around. Uses a french cleat to hang. Allows for ventilation. Still gotta paint it.

Started buying equities again today. First time in 3 to 4 years, IIRC.

I had a small account at an online bank because of their good interest rate, but the rate went down and I haven't used it for a long time. Last statement showed zero balance, so I called them up to close the account.
Well, the phone rep said that actually there is a one cent balance, so how can they send it to me?
I asked them to just donate it to charity, but they can't do that -- they must send it to me.
Unfortunately, the bank account I had linked to it was already closed, and they wouldn't let me give them a new one over the phone -- they will have to mail me a check for $0.01.

The mind boggles.

Looks cool!

I built something similar for a bedroom closet/stairwell for access to the tub/shower on the other side of the wall. Mine had 6 mounting screws, though, since it was a stairwell and I wanted it a little more secure to the wall.

Sorry the photos aren't the greatest. It was a pretty tight space.

Actually, I have an even better example from long ago. I had ordered something from JC Whitney, and a month after receiving it I got a bill for $0.00.
I laughed and ignored it, but they kept sending those bills month after month, and finally I got a letter informing me that they were going to send it to a collection agency unless I paid in full.

I had no choice, so I mailed them a check for $0.00 and never heard from them again.
That was decades ago, in the early days of computers, and I guess they were trying to automate everything.

DW and I did OTF. I got stuck next to the guy I hate to work out next to since he never does the official workouts. I call him, random man. He does what he wants.

The music was tolerable, nothing I would ever choose to listen to. But I guess we're old. I expect music to be... musical, and have a beat. Especially if I'm working out.

But at 70, I'm probably one of the oldest out there still doing OTF. Thankful for that.

I had to Google what OTF was.

I learned something new today.

Can you clue the rest of us in…what’s is OTF?
AI Overview:

Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) is a global boutique fitness franchise offering 1-hour, full-body interval training combining rowing, cardio, and strength. Classes use heart rate-based monitoring to maximize fat burn and improve performance. Membership options vary by studio (usually Basic, Elite, Premier) and a free first class is often available.

Key Aspects of Orangetheory Fitness

  • Workout Structure: The workout is divided into intervals, utilizing treadmills, rowing machines, and strength floor equipment like dumbbells and TRX straps.
  • Heart Rate Training: Coaches guide participants through five heart rate zones. The goal is to spend at least 12–20 minutes in the "Orange" and "Red" zones (anaerobic/aerobic) to create a "burn" effect (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption) that increases metabolism.
  • Types of Workouts: Classes include 2G (two groups switching between floor/treadmill) and 3G (three groups rotating between rower/floor/treadmill).
  • Membership Options: Common options include Basic (4 classes/month), Elite (8 classes/month), and Premier (unlimited classes).
  • Community: Participants can follow along on the Orangetheory Fitness Reddit.
  • Locations: With over 1,300 locations, you can use the Orangetheory Location Finder to find a studio.

Took the garbage can out to the curb in the dark and falling snow this morning. When I went out to retrieve it a few minutes ago, I saw two robins in the front yard, trying to find bare ground to get some dead grass for their nest this year.

It looks like they might be re-using last year's nest in the Red Maple tree. Or they might be in the Spruce tree where they usually nest. There is also a Cedar tree in the back yard, but the last time they built a nest there, we got 26 inches of snow in April and the branch they were using for their nest broke off the tree and they had to build a new nest.

I was curious as to where they go for the winters, so I looked it up and found this blog/article:

Wisconsin's Beloved Songbird

Our robins definitely do not stay around during the winters. They usually disappear in November, and show back up sometime near the end of March. They're a little confused this year with all the snow still on the ground.

I'm guessing it's the same pair that show up in our yard every year.

Beautiful sunny day here today, DH and I getting ready to head to rainy Hawaii next week:LOL:
Rain doesn't bother those of us in the lovely Pacific NW though.
