What did you do today 2026

Sailed on one of the world's great rivers, visited a gigantic Gothic cathedral, wallked several miles along the same river and went to the zoo. In a bit, we're going out to drink beer from small glasses.
Cologne?

Good call.
The small glasses of beer along with giant cathedral gave it away. Then I remembered you must be on that Viking cruise of the Rhine. Hope you are having a great time.

We are having a great time, seeing great things, meeting interesting people and enjoying fantastic service. We should have done this earlier.

We started visiting Europe around the turn of the century. We knew people from France, Germany, etc.

I don't think I ever had a bad time in Europe. Service was always spot-on, and we just smiled a lot!

Doing my best to occupy my time while my house is in chaos with repiping all hot and cold supply line.

Took some profits off the table. Buy low sell high. Well me thinking it looks like a pretty damn good time. Wonder what W2R would be sayin. I miss her.
Ditto. 1% or so off the table into 4% CD.

Im usually a day late posting here. Went to an afternoon baseball game. 3rd game this year for me including Opening day. This game is the first time they won with me in the park.

The texture mud was finally dry this morning so I primered all the corners and window frames today.

Then for a reward DW and I took the El Camino out to A&W for dinner.

Tomorrow I'll get the roller out and prime the entire bedroom.

Edit: I also got the new Social Distortion CD in the mail (UPS, actually) today. Listening to it as I type this.

The wine region near me puts on a barrel tasting event every Spring and I got the chance to help pour/sell wine yesterday for two wineries. It’s a big event for out of town folks from Denver and Utah. It continues today. People arrive happy and depart even happier. I enjoy the social aspect of it.

Used to love their root beer in those big heavy frosted mugs. Don't have any more near me in SW NH.

Always fun to see what all my friends are doing and how they are enjoying life!!

Got pump going for the first time of the year and watered the yard. I worked on washing and waxing and doing some odds and ends on the old Toyota pickup.

I have done a lot of work to it and I put it up for sale to see if any interest. I have had plenty!! Got a guy coming tomorrow morning from out of state to look at it. A couple more next week one from out of state if it doesn't sell tomorrow.

The work I did was a project of learning for me. A great experience doing a lot of replacements on it fun but I wouldn't do it again. I always wanted an old Toy all the rich kids had them when Ii was growing up. I can say I owned one too, even though I'm an old guy now.

Replaced the canopy on my patio umbrella. Old one had plenty holes in it.

Got out the paint roller and primed all the vertical surfaces and a small portion of the ceiling and one angled section of the upstairs bedroom project today. Should finish priming it the next time I work on it. (Tomorrow is Mother's Day) Maybe Monday?

Also discovered some mold behind a accordion-style paper blackout panel in a window in a different bedroom today so that got removed and thrown away. Then I took three window sections outside and thoroughly scrubbed them with CLR / vinegar, and Lysol, to remove the mold and then Windex to clean the glass. I also scrubbed the vinyl and aluminum casings before reinstalling the windows.

Spread some topsoil and planted grass seed where my backyard project had tore up the lawn. Added some sprinklers to my system and fired up the sprinkling system for the first time this spring. Went for a paddle.

Appraise the repair/patch work left behind from my whole house repiping. I found 13 interior wall need replastered/repaired and repainted after final inspection. Here's a sample of one wall. All walls have a minimum of three cut outs. Part of the contract includes repair cut outs only, no paint. Quite a mess, putting things back in place later today.

The last time I visited AW was 1972 in Manhattan, KS. Nice to see they're still around.

Looks like a lot of work.

BTW - nice cameo appearance in the mirror!

With society being what it is, A&W drive-ins are not as good as they used to be. We usually show up once or twice during the season in DW's MGB convertible, but everyone else there has a huge SUV or a crew-cab truck and we are the only ones who turn the engine off in our vehicle. Everybody else leaves theirs running - even when the weather is perfect - so not only do we get to breathe their exhaust, but thanks to the overhead canopy shading the parking area, the vehicle in front of us will always have their headlights shining right into our eyes the whole time we're trying to enjoy our meal.

People don't seem to have much consideration for others anymore. I wish the A&W owners would put up signs reminding people to turn off their engines while in the drive-in, but I guess keeping phones charged and having the in-vehicle wi-fi working is more important than the dining experience nowadays.

Thumb is finally recovered enough that I went on a mellow mountain bike ride with the better-half this morning.

Although I've been riding my townie, since it's my main mode of transportation, it's been nearly a month without any serious exercise.

Got out on my gravel bike today for an early workout before Mother’s Day luncheon prep.

Total for the week; 210 miles and 16k ft of elevation gain on my favorite U.S. Forest Service gravel roads in 18 hours.

Dug and laid the last 8 bricks in a curve for a border for some roses. Discovered a thin layer of old asphalt under some of the dirt, which made digging there extra "fun". Then I took the hoe around and knocked off every foxtail weed I could find.

Tomorrow I get 9 tons of pea gravel and will have tons more fun spreading it out where I want it. They insist on dumping it on 1 big pile.

The kid drove up Friday night.

Then we went on a Saturday roadtrip to a dealership a few hours away for their new Camry.

Then a few more hours back to their home to drop it off in their garage.

They got 48 mpg over that segment.

Then both of us back home here.

Equivalent of Murphy to Manteo. :)
