What did you do today 2026

Finished sanded copious drywall repairs in garage and preprimed. Going over entire walls with coat of primer today, then hopefully a workout and off to the nursery with DW to get some potting plants.
With all the LH and RH contents pushed to the center, will have to repeat the process on the front wall. Hopefully a declutter will take place and 20% will be thrown out. Maybe go from 5 toolboxes to 1 for starters😃

Split wood yesterday and did watering because we will be gone for a few days again.

My granddaughters will be dropped off by their other grandparents early afternoon and we will take them back home today. We will spend the night with them take the 3 year old to private daycare/school tomorrow and spend most of the day at there home till their mom and dad get home.

On the cruise with my sweetie!

Heading over to pickup youngest DGS for his day with Grandma and Papa!

Again I took my longest mountain bike ride of the season. My better-half joined. Not the biggest single track loop from our door, but the second. About 25 miles, 2500ft of climbing, and all single track. Glad we woke up early and headed out while it was still cool. Now it's back to pulling cheatgrass.

Grabbed a breakfast sandwich/coffee and took a ride on the Hudson River this morning. Last week of boat ownership before gifting to daughter & husband. Then light cleaning of travel van and yard prior to noon. Just taking it easy this afternoon with no plans at all.

Typical day of 4-6 hours of yard work.

3 months from tomorrow is my next annual checkup. Diet starts tomorrow. So today I had a donut for breakfast, McDonalds for lunch and a DQ blizzard for dinner.
I've not had a blizzard in like forever.
I used to try to have one every summer...

I haven't had a Blizzard, a milk shake or ice cream in about 2 years. Diet is hard.

Sitting here at a hew hundred feet of elevation, I just can't imagine how my lungs would feel doing that!

So frustrated with the USPS. I have a PO Box because we had problems with mail box thefts years ago and all they could do was wring their hands. If I get an item too large for my box they put in a yellow card printed on one side with that info and with my PO Box hand-written on the other side, which I take to the counter to get the items. They re-use those cards, just crossing off the last PO Box number and adding a new one till they run out of space.

I'd been patiently waiting for a package that had supposedly arrived May 23 with no notice in my box. Today I went to the counter and asked. Oh, yeah, they ran out of yellow cards. They brought out that package, a large bundle of paperwork from my new brokerage, and a credit card that I had expected weeks ago and had a new one sent when it didn't arrive. (Got the new one today in my box.)

They'd wondered why I wasn't picking items up at the counter and thought I'd moved. (This is a very small town.) Ummm, maybe because they didn't TELL me I had items waiting?

We use UPS for our mailing box instead. UPS is alot more flexible than USPS because they are individually owned and they care about customer satisfaction. We get an email and text when we have a delivery.

Woke up early and went for a hike with the better-half and the pups. Then it was back to pulling cheatgrass and weed-whacking before we took an evening ride. Super loaded baked potatoes for dinner!

Cooked my brain a bit today. Rode 50 miles with 3200 feet of climbing in mid 80’s weather. Not acclimated to the heat yet with that kind of effort.

I wanted to pull out my golf equipment that has become buried in my garage after not playing for 2 years. This task turned into cleaning out my entire garage and taking most of the day. Fortunately it was a beautiful day and my wife was out with a friend most of the day so I was able to proceed in a “leisurely”manner (though I was exhausted by the time I was finished). Several findings and accomplishments…
- not only did I find my clubs and shoes which fit and were in good shape but I found I had at least 8 dozen brand new golf balls (as well as a few dozen “opened” and used golf balls. I will never have to buy more golf balls!
- how many “reusable “ grocery and shopping bags do you have? Is there a need to have several hundred of these? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣
- we put a bunch of toys and bikes, outgrown by our grandkids out on the curb for free cycle and sold a few items that will be picked up by tomorrow.
- we found clothes that my wife was getting rid of and was going to donate, but were tried on by our daughter who has recently lost a lot of weight who was happy to take them.
- threw out a lot of things no longer used and broken and it’s garbage night tonight, so went right out to the curb.

There is still too much stuff in the garage to park a car there, but at least we now know what we have and can find it! Feels like a big accomplishment..now I better go to the driving range and practice hitting those clubs!

we moved construction materials ahead of the mower guy on the rented zero turn, cutting down 3' grass and daisies on about 3 acres. He kept on mowing and we went in to start wiring floor 1.
