What did you do today 2026

Went today to DM’s credit union to stop payment on a check to her gardener. The check was dropped off inside the Post Office the week before Memorial Day, but never arrived. Gardener has Zelle, but CU won’t allow me to set that up as POA. So instead I set up Zelle on the trust checking at Chase, since I am trustee. Then I paid the gardener using Zelle. You gotta do what you gotta do. Also boo on checks, stop payment fees and DM’s CU!

Went to a mtg in ABQ, made coffee for the group.
Caught up on work laundry.
Bought some personal care items (deodorant, bodywash, and body spray) .... products are not tested on animals.
Filed a dispute with my CC company against the woman who messed up my haircut and color.

Actually yesterday - a very nice lady at my bank called me to make sure that a check I wrote was really legitimate, since it was larger than the normal checks I write and payable to an individual. It is a small bank, with a main branch about three blocks from my home in the center of town and two other branches, one at each end of town. I appreciate that type of personal care, which is why I have been a customer there for 37 years.

Plan today is to go to water aerobics with my sister, then order new air filters for room air purifiers, and walk the track this evening with DH.

Thanks for reminding me that we switched over from running the furnace to running the A/C last month so it's time to change the furnace filter once again.

Monster mountain bike ride today with the better-half. It was the biggest ride of the season for both of us. In the saddle for more than 3 hours to cover over 25 miles with close to 3000 feet of climbing. Fair bit of technical riding both uphill and downhill. My better-half rolled everything like a champ. She took a tumble on the biggest rock feature on the ride but went back and was successful on her second shot before we took a pause for snacks and a little first aid. Great final ride before heading out of town for a few weeks.
Nice - where to?
Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Just doing the final prep and packing now. Our flight leaves right after my volunteer shift at the senior center tomorrow morning.

Routine doctor visit, did a hike down the street, swam, made Cincinnati 5-way spaghetti chili.

Yesterday I spent the day visiting the local Georgia Department of Drivers services to get a new driver's license for my DGF and me. Our birthdays are 1 day apart and our licenses coincidentally expire the same year.

Then proceeded to the DMV to renew DGF's vehicle registration as I had already done mine at the kiosk available at our local Kroger.

Then spent an hour in the evening talking with a window salesman for an estimate to replace 7 double hung windows. Such fun.

Today I spent a large part of the afternoon talking with another window salesman. He was a youngster at 30 years old and we had an enjoyable conversation.

My single pane builder grade windows are 35 years old and are very leaky at this point. How I do hate this process. One more salesman to talk to next Monday and I'll have to decide if I've had enough to make a decision or make more appointments.

Went early morning again to the ranch. Split wood, finished bobsled turning gear bob, will build rear bob at sometime. Mowed with tractor and weed eat. A beautiful day there had coffee and took in nature.

Drove down to the city for shopping, 93 miles, nice drive.

Lowes, Harbor Freight, gas station, all fine.

Waldomart not as nice. They reorganized a lot of stuff which did not make it any easier for me to find things in their oversize store. Kind of a pita, but found most of what I wanted. But why are there 100+ packages of boxers and boxer briefs, but no regular briefs?! Grr.

I installed a new exterior no freeze faucet to replace the ancient faucet that was leaking like a sieve. This was my first experience with SharkBite fittings and PEX tubing. I watched several YouTube videos first and it went relatively smoothly.

I mowed for about 3 hours early morning for Montana State Research Center. I do the campus which is about 10 acres of green.

Then came home and cut trees at my home. I like to keep this one side of a large ash tree free of much growth because it is close to a building of mine and the property line. A extension ladder and an extendo 8ft battery operated chainsaw works well. I also use a lineman belt and get tied in the tree when cutting.

Had lunch drove to the ranch watered garden. I can get water from the ditch now that has water from Yellowstone River and makes it pretty easy.

I then did some more log splitting getting wood split and stacked under cover and out of the weathah.

Home having dinner with wife and off for a nice bike ride. A beautiful day today.

Did some trimming in the front yard. Nearly all of our plants require caution with needles, spikes, etc. Still picking sharp stuff out of my clothes. This morning, I picked up a pickleball teammate/friend from the hospital after outpatient multiple hernia surgery, took him to get pain meds, and then got him settled at home.

DH and I went to the retirement celebration of a guy whom we both know. He and I had shared an office for years. It was great to see a few of the old crew, but he is the last one to go. Except he’s agreed to be on call back! There’s a new computer room that’s been his baby for the past X years since the planning phase. He gave us a detailed tour of the new facility. The grand opening was a few months ago, but he *still* wants to make sure that it’s working just right. Dude, let the new guy deal with it, and come out to play with the rest of us!

Had a nice early (7 am) delivery from Home Depot. I always get my own lumber but was feeling a little lazy and it was hot out. Big mistake. The delivery guy wrecked portions of my lawn and driveway. The lumber looks mostly good though I haven't taken the load apart yet to fully inspect it. The reason I usually get my own is that I am picky and like to cull thru the stock to pick the ones I want. Going to take the good part of today to fix the damage. :(

DGS has a track meet today, but it is all day long, so Grandma will sit this one out. Usually he knows when his event are and we can get there to watch, this one we don't. And it is supposed to rain, so I will stay home and stay dry. DS will film his events for us.
This morning I dead headed all my flowers in the yard and in my deck planters, did a bit of weeding.

Just bumming today. Up early water the lawn at 4 o'clock and then bike ride. son and family at DIL parents ranch today working cattle. We might get to see them later this evening. Seeing Granddaughters are always a good day!!!

Did a little bit of grass trimming around the house near downspouts and the like that I couldn't get with the lawn mower the other day. I used a reciprocator-type trimmer that cuts much cleaner than a string trimmer and doesn't throw the clippings all over the place, like on my pant legs.

Taking a break right now after 4 days of work on the house with my neighbor. He is a whirlwind in action.
