What is your pet peeve of the day? -- 2021

Since we're on the subject of retail store aisles, I am annoyed when I have to flee an aisle because someone who is coughing profusely is coming toward me.

Was at Sam's club and was about to buy the 7.5 dozen box of eggs for $40. Next to it was 18 count cartons of eggs for less $$ per dozen. I bought 5 cartons of 18 count eggs for a total of $30. Saved $10. Buying in bulk isn't always cheaper. Just one more thing to keep an eye on.

That's a lot of eggs! Is this for an Easter egg hunt? :)

Lol, no. I just eat a lot of eggs. Usually around 7 a day. I don't eat as many on weekends so a 90 count of eggs lasts me around 3 weeks. I remember when I could get a 90 box for $15!

Did this thread already cover speakerphones in public? I'd expect so - but in case it has not....
What? I can't hear you over the sound of the speakerphones around me.

Saw a new one today while doing laps at the pool. Lady two lanes over was "water walking" (actually, slowly strolling) while playing with phone including taking calls.

The other water walkers were lapping her at 2x speed. I guess she got a nice soak. The water was warm today. Fortunately, my ears were below water line most of the time I didn't need to hear the din.

It would be a shame if her phone somehow fell in the water, now wouldn't it? ;)

What if it was somewhere between great and not great? What if they left it out where people could see it, but I got it inside before it was stolen?

My current pet peeve. Trying to train our pup heel off leash in highly populated, high stress/excitement areas. Yesterday was second time out and he did ok but would have been much better if people would just go about there business. Drives me crazy when they decide they want to get involved!
The pup is to the moon highly driven but coming along.
Our last dog I trained for HRD.
I still haven't decided if I want to do that again.
Our state could definitely use more HRD service dogs.

The Federal Government not sending me my $1k+ rebait after multiple calls and waiting for more than a year. I don't think I will ever see that money again.

I also had a refund stuck in limbo. I called the IRS appointment phone number to go in person, and after about ten minutes on hold, spoke with a gentleman who asked why I needed an appointment. When I explained my problem, he spent time on the phone (many holds), and solved it. I’d suggest calling (844) 545-5640. Total time with all holds was about 55 minutes, still shorter than the round trip drive to my closest office.

UPS, for four days sending me email that my package will be delivered tomorrow. Still not here.

Reminds me of a sign in Alaskan liquor store, next to cash register "Free Beer Tomorrow"

I guess $1000/hour wouldn't be too bad. If it w*rks, anyway.

Good luck, Badger.

Saw that one in Germany at a bar which was themed "American" ca 1964.

The LOUD vehicles seem to be proliferating recently. Why is it that it’s not enough to start the million-decibel machine at 5:00 AM but it has to be rev’ed a dozen times before pulling out of the driveway? New neighbors need to be somehow approached without pissing them off, I suppose.

This one really got me steamed today.
Some years ago I set up an account and had all my email channeled through Google's servers, because they had the best spam filters. That was free, and worked well for years.
Then more recently they began charging for it, and I was getting a bill for around $12 a month.
After a few months, I decided it wasn't worth it and redirected my email away from Google. Canceled the Google account a month ago and thought that was the end of it.
So today I got a bill for around $85 with an invoice saying it was a cancellation fee.
Nothing I can do, although I was never able to find anywhere that this fee had been documented.

I will NEVER do any kind of business with Google again.

Something about male behavior in the animal kingdom. Peacocks, lions, humans, etc.

back when I was a youngin my neighbor 2 houses away would push his Harley in front of our house to start it at 5 am so he did not wake up his family.

I stashed away 2/3rds of a 3-pack of an item bought from Amazon a couple years ago. Went looking for it over the weekend. Finally decided it wasn’t worth the aggravation for a $20 item, so bought another pack. It arrived today, and as soon as I saw the package, I knew exactly where it was - in the place I looked for it first! I had looked straight at the generic blue plastic package but was expecting to see the green contents within, so didn’t read the label.

Luckily this low value item doesn’t expire and will use again in the future, so not returning it. I figure I’m paying the “Didn’t pay attention to detail” tax!

What, me have peeves?

Drivers! Running stop signs and red lights, speeding through school zones, speeding in general, as it’s a regular thing to see 60 mph in a forty zone, or 90-100 on the expressways or tollways, failure to yield, failure to signal, three lane changes to enable a turn, testosterone-fueled motorcyclists pulling wheelies at 80mph, in traffic…

Now get off my lawn!

We've recently installed a dozen or so red-light cameras and they have issued thousands of fines so far. Going to electronic speeding cameras soon. 5 over is a violation.

I'm not a big fan of either of these but I guess we need them. Since Covid, we are killing and injuring people on our roads at a dizzying rate. People seem to have lost all perspective when it comes to driving.

We're still pretty good about letting people "in" while changing lanes, etc. Our "Interstate" is a miniature of what most people know as an Interstate so it's so important to cooperate with other drivers. We call our 3 Interstates H-1, H-2, and H-3 (no "I" since they don't have the bridge to California done yet).
