What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

Believe it or not, we watched an episode on regular broadcast TV (ABC) of a new series that has potential. It is called Doctor Odyssey, about the medical staff of a luxury cruise ship. I wouldn’t quite compare it to The Love Boat but it’s an interesting cross between that show and many medical shows on TV. The 1st episode was definitely entertaining. I’m Surprised we even watched it on broadcast TV (I think it came on after Wheel of Fortune we were watching).

Watching "The Stranger" - a mini series on Netflix. Enjoyable.

Colin from Accounts. We had watched the first season and were delighted by it - second season came out and, dammit, we blew through all eight episodes. Set in Sydney it is a wonderful look at life between a 42 YO microbrewery owner and a 30ish 5th year medical student, thrown together by whim and car accident. With a dog. Great takes on human relationship situations that are awkward and funny and, weird though they might be, very recognizable. The main actors also created and co-write the show. Very high marks.

Paramount +, Tubi

I enjoyed season 1 of "Interview with the Vampire" a new series from AMC. Netflix has season 1. There is a season 2 available on AMC.

Sounds good, but don't have Paramount+. Searched TUBI but couldn't find it.

There have been a number of series shown on Paramount mentioned in this thread. It may be worthwhile to subscribe for a year, especially if there is a good offer around Black Friday.

You are right - just looked on Roku and it claims to be available on Prime, Apple, and Fandango as well as Paramount +, but they want to charge for the pleasure!

We got Paramount + on special for $5/month. Prime offers it as an addon for $7.99/month with a free trial.

Free with a Walmart+ subscription. We recently got a good deal on that.

We tried a few episodes of Elsbeth. The first three or four we found original, funny and very quirky. Then we noticed that they were all the same. No mystery. She just "knows" who the guilty party is within the first 5-10 minutes, with little or no evidence.
It's got potential but they need to mix it up more.
My sentiment as well. There's no mystery. What's the fun in that?

I wonder if viewers know the origin of the character. I agree about the episodic storylines but there are layers to the plot. It will be interesting to see how they will do season 2. I never watched Columbo but I think of Elsbeth as having a similar style except she is not a detective or PI.

Watched the first episode of the new Matlock with Kathy Bates. Loved it and looking forward to the series. If you watch, be sure to watch all the way to the end.
I really enjoyed the show and was disappointed that it was a pilot/preview and have to wait a bit for the next episode. I saw some folks complaining about how they recycled the name of the show. I thought it was great. Good point about watching to the very end.

Started "The "Ark" season 2, quite watchable. Check justwatch.com to see where it is streaming, if it is.

If this is the sci-fi show on Peacock I agree that it's a guilty pleasure of mine. It's kind of a corny, somewhat predictable story of a spaceship that was damaged on its way to a far planet meant for colonization.

The characters are reliable stereotypes. Special effects are mostly pretty good considering the budget. There is a plot crisis of the week which escalates until at the last minute a solution is found and the spaceship and crew are saved. It reminds me a lot of plot structure of Star Trek: The Original Series (1960's) except at the end of each episode of The Ark there is a cliffhanger that introduces next episode's crisis.

I don't know why, but I keep watching it.

I’ve been watching High Potential. It’s a show about a struggling, eccentric single mom who has the world’s largest collection of mini-skirts, and helps the police solve crimes.

Just finished "The Bay" Season 5. Yet another great British Police Procedural. The opening credits showed the BritBox Logo, if that helps.

Not sure if it has been mentioned here already but we just started "Colin From Accounts" an Australian comedy on Paramount+. Very quirky and funny so far. (Don't let the title deceive you, it's not about an office or accounting).
Just found out we get free paramount + with our cable. This was the first thing I watched and thought it was really funny. Hope they make another season,

I finished Bad Monkey (Apple TV+) last night. I thought it was a good show, but people not familiar with Carl Hiiason’s work might think it a bit confusing. His books are like this, with side plots, strange characters and excellent satire of Florida culture, and this didn’t come through as well with the series.

Still good, though, and if they do another series based on Hiiason’s work I’ll watch for sure.
