What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

Netflix has brought a huge number of foreign shows to the US markets and there have been so many great ones!

German series Babylon Berlin was outstanding.

PBS also. English-Austrian production Vienna Blood fantastic.

I think both these series are in English even though mostly foreign actors.
Watched both and agree.

I tried watching Tulsa King, with Rocky Stallone. Not very well done, in my opinion, and already in the first 3 episodes there have been conflicts resolved in such dumb ways that I'm done with it.
I'd give it a 5/10

Just finished Rig 45 season 1 on Prime. I liked it. A thriller with some gore on an oil rig.

I started Tulsa King, I like it so far. I tend to like organized crime shows that have a little humor thrown in.

No recs here but glad to hear there will be another season of Brokenwood. I often tire of series but 10 seasons and I'm ready for more.

Like Water for Chocolate and Dune Prophecy both on HBO Max. I don't like that they drop one episode a week. At least drop 2. We've been spoiled by the entire series available to watch.

We just started watching the latest series of the Great British Baking Show. So far it’s remained true to its format, so we’re enjoying it. On Netflix

Netflix:
A Man On The Inside

I find it very entertaining and seems to accurately represent what may go on in retirement communities in a humorous way.
We’re watching it currently. I refer to it as a depressing comedy. A lot of poignant moments about aging.

Their FB page says they wrapped Season 11 about a week ago. Looking forward to its release on Acorn here in the US next year. I seem to recall that typically happens sometime around the April timeframe. Here's hoping!

Looks like both of these are available on Hoopla; one just needs a library card.

The Sticky is a new dark comedy on Amazon Prime. It's set in Quebec and is loosely based on a maple syrup heist that took place in 2011-12. I watched the first episode and it looks quite promising.

+1

We've seen three episodes and are enjoying it. I really like Margo Martindale, who plays Ruth Landry.

Yes, Margo Martindale is delightful in the role. As soon as I saw the character, I knew I'd seen the actress in a fairly recent series. Then it hit me: Margo played Bryan Cranston's mother-in-law in Your Honor.

She is excellent in everything she does. One to put on my list just by seeing her in it!

New: Black Doves on Netflix, british spy thriller with Kiera Knightley. I'm just starting Ep2, but I'm hooked so far.

Took advantage of Black Friday streaming promos, so added subscriptions to Disney+, Hulu, Max, Paramount+, Showtime. Checking out the latest series in addition to movies. Saw my first 2 episodes of Penguin on Max. If you enjoyed Matt Reeves The Batman, then you’ll like this one because it has the same gritty dark noir feel. Quite good.

The series "Dark" on Netflix is a fast moving thriller. For the out of the box thinker and entertainingly complicated. I watch in the original German dialogue with English subtitles. Never a dull moment, the rare comment from DH...this series, I will binge watch.

Acorn TV: Inspector Ellis

A detective inspector is brought in to solve cases that local departments have not been able to clear on their own. She meets with resistance and push-back due to turf wars, departmental politics, etc.

I really like the main character - she doesn't take $h!t from anyone; she just puts her head down and gets the job done. Played by the brilliant Sharon D. Clarke. Her new sidekick is played by Andrew Gower; it's entertaining to watch their professional relationship slowly develop as they get used to each other's quirks.

My only complaint about the series is that it only has three 90-minute episodes (like so many other British series) but I'm hopeful there will be a second series.

Watched the first episode last night. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for the recommendation.

We just started this last night, about 4 episodes in. I enjoy it so far.
