What OLD series/movies are you watching? *Spoilers welcome!*

Anne of Green Gables (1985). Little House on the Prairie (1974). I like them as slice of life dramas.

Dumped FIOS for antenna, and discovered the GRIT network: all Cowboy Stuff, all the time.
Bat Masterson, Tales of Wells Fargo, The Texan, Zane Gray Theatre, Rifleman, etc.
Also classic western movies -sometimes great ones. Unforgiven yesterday.
Flip it on at lunchtime when I want to watch something.
Commercial breaks are long, so just check the news on my phone LOL.

Watched "Stop Making Sense" (1984), the Talking Heads concert movie. It is recently remastered with supervision by the band members and in now in pristine audio and video condition. I recommend this movie whether you are a TH fan or not. I watched it free on Tubi.

This came out in college. The previous year, we saw the Rolling Stone's concert movie. And that one was just OK. Kind of a documentary of a tour. It didn't want to watch another concert. Fast forward 42 years later and I finally watched SMS.

"Stop Making Sense" is done very differently and I understand why many critics call it the best concert film ever. It was filmed in 3 nights at the same venue. One night with wide shots. One night with tight shots. One night with side and back shots. You never see other camera gear except for one well placed humorous siting of a roadie. It is an actual movie.

I'm not a Talking Heads fan. I like a few songs. I like their concept of putting a lot of funk into rock. But David Byrne's voice grates on me sometimes.

I gotta say -- WOW -- the band hit it out of the park on these days. Byrne was in fine vocal form and he gave room to breathe to others, especially their back up singers, to help fill the space. The band they put together was incredibly tight and skilled, working well with the core 4 members. They sounded good.

The video and audio is so well done in the remaster. The director's choice in framing gives many opportunities to see faces of all the band members, not just Byrne. I like watching drummer Chris Franz mouth some of the lyrics that Byrne is singing even though Franz is way behind him in the dark. The video is that sharp.

And of course, there is the iconic "big suite" Byrne wears for only a short time.

We've been rewatching New Girl on Hulu. We never caught the series when it originally was playing but caught it a few years ago streaming. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I like the silly humor and it's a great escape for me. I think you have to give it a few episodes to get the vibe.

I watched this about 6 months ago and agree with everything you said. I'm not a fan, per se, but I do like several of their songs. (And there are some I will never understand or like.) The production values and technical expertise on this concert film rises above most every other one I've ever seen. Obviously a good stereo system is a must or at least a sound bar.

What is the premise? I remember when it came out. It seemed like it was just a vehicle to watch Zooey and stare at her blue eyes. Is there anything more to this? I didn't have time for it when it came out.

BTW, her mom was in the original "Twin Peaks" and her dad was a director for the same. Also, Zooey can sing and has an interesting duet with Prince. Her voice is very unique, and nothing like the pixie sounding voices of current pop singers.

For me it's about four quirky roommates helping each other get through life and everything it throws at you. Really some over the top funny situations, not for everyone but I find the characters hilarious.

Here is the first 5 minutes of the show.

PSA - All 4 seasons of the Jack Ryan series can now be streamed from Amazon Prime for free, without a Prime membership. The first 3 seasons have been free for a number of years, but the 4th season was always locked for Prime members only. With the release of a new Jack Ryan movie, they unlocked the 4th season of the series so anyone can watch it.

How does one watch Amazon Prime Video if they don't have an Amazon Prime account?

Launch the app and login with your Amazon account, and you can still watch the free stuff without having an Amazon Prime account or Prime Video membership. Jack Ryan and various others are available to watch for free.

Just finished the 1950 classic ALL ABOUT EVE, starring Betty Davis and Anne Baxter, wherein a sweet, star-struck fan of the theater turns into an ambitious, grasping beast to her friends and mentors. A flick famous for its sharp, cynical dialogue. "Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night."

Now on Netflix.

At this time the young Marilyn Monroe was just breaking into Hollywood. She has a couple of brief cameos which are a joy to watch. Here she is; two scenes at a party and one with a hangover later:

watched "All in the Family" on Tubi - it's still funny after all these years. Such a shame what happened to "Meathead".
I occasionally catch on old All in the Family and Honeymooners episode and watch. They are funny, but I can only handle so much of it.

Gunsmoke is an old series that I still like to watch from time to time, even after watching the full series from start to finish several years back.

"Kelly's Heroes" on youtube. A much younger Clint Eastwood, Telly Salivas, Don Rickles, and others you'll recognize.
