What was your happiest moment today?

Baking cookies and wrapping gifts today for kids and grands. They will be here Christmas Eve for our celebration this year.
I need to make sure the grandkids have the same number of gifts to open--lol.

Yes you do need to attach new photo and the rules are pretty stringent. We are members and live close to AAA office, so had them take photos for free. I then just scanned the photos and uploaded with application. All was accepted just fine.

Today was the first day I felt 100% since a bad bout of flu starting November 29! Did a hard workout, felt like cooking something for the first time. But the happiest thing: I THINK I figured out what was causing my computer sound system to frequently cut out and cut back in. I have been dealing with this for two years! It was my first impetus to buy a new laptop last week, although I truly needed one with the old one aging and slowing (and tariffs looming). I got the new system (mostly) set up --- and the sound failed again.

But the cure turned out to be moving the power plug to one of the "always on" outlets on my "smart strip." I had tried so many things. I bought new speakers a year ago. I had previously unplugged and plugged EVERYTHING (but back into same outlets). I had switched an audio cable. I eyed the ethernet connection. I pondered the router. But I hadn't thought of moving the plug from an outlet governed by the computer to the "always on" one. Today I did! I'm not sorry I bought a new computer - been meaning to for a year, but I am ECSTATIC that my sound is not cutting out for 30 seconds every few minutes. It was affecting audiobooks, narrated websites, and music.

Happiest moment: seeing someone drive off with the 12' X 12.75' area rug I no longer needed after I FINALLY had an ugly patch of plywood smack in the middle of my beautiful hardwood floor in the living room replaced with hardwood. (The previous owners gave us a $300 credit towards an area rug- we found out why on the walk-through. No idea why they cut costs like that in an otherwise well-built home.) It was a royal PITA to wrestle it out the door and list it as Free Stuff on Craigslist and then, two days after someone said they'd be coming to get it, a light mist started and I was afraid it would end up so wet no one would want it. Second guy picked it up this afternoon.

Second-happiest moment- he was so thrilled he sent me a picture of it in his house.

Third-happiest moment: I'd taken a stack of library books up when visiting the grandchildren and returned them on the way home- except for one. I remember DDIL handing that one to me at the last minute and thought I'd put it with the others and returned it. I found it in my trunk today. It's back where it belongs.

Now that I have an idea of what type of space I'll have in the retirement community where I'll likely move in 2 years I'm getting rid of things I no longer use and won't need there, either. I got a lot out the door this week.

Then I found an ironing board in a closet. Wonder if I can get rid of an ironing board.

Went Nordic skiing this morning. Only vehicle at the trailhead, saw nobody on the trail, and still the only vehicle when I got back to the trailhead.

I'd take your ironing board if you were closer. I use them as out tables for cutoff and jobsite table saws.
My happiest moment was chilling at the balcony rail I just put up, looking at new walls.

Thanks- hadn't thought of that use. Will probably list it since i have a mini-ironing board if I actually need to iron something.

By the way, the guy who picked up my rug sent me a picture of it in his living room! It looks really nice. That made my day, too- I suspect that a lot of the things I give away on Craigslist go to resellers, especially since the first one to arrive usually grabs all the unrelated items I've listed. Good to see the rug in use.

Woke up to a powder day at the local resort. Spent the morning cruising through the trees on a blanket of powder for the first time this season.

Happiest moment - DW and I took a necked shower today.
With each other, right??

Old Hippie poster from the 60's, available in most Head Shops at the time.

SAVE WATER. SHOWER WITH A FRIEND

My happiest moment today was at 11:13 am, when we got an update from the water company that the repairs were completed, and water was back on!! It had been out for 42.5 hours (but who's counting)!

An electric company (not ours) has been working down the road for days, replacing poles and transformers, and Friday afternoon at 4:30 they did something that damaged our community-wide well equipment. 🤬🤬

On the plus side, we never lost power and heat, and that's more important than water IMHO.

The second-happiest moment was taking a long-awaited hot shower and washing my hair - the small luxuries we take for granted in life until they aren't available.

Wow, no one has has a "happy moment of the day" so far in 2025? ? ? tsk, tsk, tsk... :).

Anyway, my happy moment was attending my 50 year high school reunion. It was a very large high school. Fortunately several had brought yearbooks along, so there were lots of "did we know each other? <look at pictures> Oh yes! We did x/y/z together! Great to see you again!"

As the "Golden Anniversary" class, we had a special procession in the school through balloon tunnels, with cheerleaders and others cheering us on, and more cheers and standing ovations from all the other reunion classes as we took our seats. Throughout the day, as DW and I walked through the school attending various exhibitions, we meeting people from other classes and having them congratulate and take pictures with us. I was also able, in talking to some of the present teachers, to give them historical information about my time that they were not aware of, and they plan to include it in some of their materials. Then the evening dinner with my classmates, and closing out the night dancing with DW was the icing on the cake.

It was only the second of my high school reunions I attended (the 20th 30 years ago was the first), and due to the travel distance (and age) could be my last :), so I was glad to have gone.

sounds like a very nice time.
Happiest moments yesterday and today: Had all the kids and grands here yesterday for Family dinner--preroasted, then smoked ribs, potato casserole, fresh vegetables, and cookies were the menu.
DGS, age 9, spent the night and this morning we will take him back to Sons house.
Today, Hubby, son, son in law and grandson are going shooting at an outdoor range and I am having breakfast with my siblings. Fun day all around.

Glad you had a great time. I’m sure your tsk tsk was an attempt humor but most of us don’t return to threads that old. Enjoy that! Lol.

Went to church this morning, which was very good. We take our older ,single neighbor with us. At lunch we started laughing so hard that soda came out of her nose. That just about killed us. Then I told the story about my brother. When we would get sick, my mom would feed us chicken noodle soup. Well my brother started gagging our something while eating the soup. A noodle came out his nose, and he slurped it back in through his nose. It left quite the impression on my other brother and me. I thought we might get kicked out of the restaurant for laughing so loudly.

Where in Montana? The weather is still a tad cool (frost this morning) at 4800 feet.
The trip is in Summer. We have hikes planned in and around Bozeman and Missoula. We wanted to go to Glacier, but the national parks have really limited hiking when you have dogs. Most trails won’t allow them so we have to find National Forests or BLM lands.

Happiest moment so far--Son showed up for morning coffee :)
He had dropped the car off at our local mechanic for routine work and walked to the house.
Always enjoy seeing our kids.
