What was your happiest moment today?

I walked into ACE hardware to pick up a garage remote battery right as the free popcorn finished popping!

With a bit of additional aisle strolling, I finished one bag in the store and grabbed another for the way home.

Have we told you about the free food samples at Costco?

Happiness comes from small things. I see most of you find happiness in everyday small things. More power to you all.

Unfortunately, the nearest Costco is several hours away, but I do like the taste of "free" food, sometimes more than not-free food.

Today was the first day I felt 100% since a bad bout of flu starting November 29! Did a hard workout, felt like cooking something for the first time. But the happiest thing: I THINK I figured out what was causing my computer sound system to frequently cut out and cut back in. I have been dealing with this for two years! It was my first impetus to buy a new laptop last week, although I truly needed one with the old one aging and slowing (and tariffs looming). I got the new system (mostly) set up --- and the sound failed again.

But the cure turned out to be moving the power plug to one of the "always on" outlets on my "smart strip." I had tried so many things. I bought new speakers a year ago. I had previously unplugged and plugged EVERYTHING (but back into same outlets). I had switched an audio cable. I eyed the ethernet connection. I pondered the router. But I hadn't thought of moving the plug from an outlet governed by the computer to the "always on" one. Today I did! I'm not sorry I bought a new computer - been meaning to for a year, but I am ECSTATIC that my sound is not cutting out for 30 seconds every few minutes. It was affecting audiobooks, narrated websites, and music.

This sounds awesome! Nice job, Pellice!

Had a lovely evening with my son visiting until late last night.

Getting off I-85 from Atlanta to North Carolina yesterday. Seems like going 80 MPH (10 MPH over the speed limit) is risking being run down by everyone going near 100 MPH and wildly changing lanes.

What is wrong with people? One of the few advantages of our ridiculous traffic is that no one can go very fast. At least most of our freeway accidents are survivable. YMMV

Hey, be careful out there!

Love that free popcorn. Its one of the reasons I don't complain about wife getting bird food there when it's on sale.

Simply enjoying coffee this morning, out on the deck, sitting with puppy.
In between rain showers for the next few days, so gathering the sunshine while we can!
Heading over to daughters house later.

Got a call at 9:00AM. Surgeon doing my Mohs surgery had an opening at (wait for it) 10:00AM if I could get there. I could. Otherwise, it was gonna be another 10 days which (with the 2 weeks for stitches) would put us late for our mainland excursion. Trying to make our 60th HS reunion.

Feeling okay now though local has worn off. Just Tylenol is all I need to get me through the night. Doctor got it in one try!! (DW took 3 cuts last year). I figure it's because they could be more "aggressive" with the scalpel since my cancer was in the hair while DW's was close to her eye and very visible. Her's turned out great. Unless my bald spot gets bigger, no one will ever notice my scar. A very good day!

Going before the Appraisal Review Board and even before the meeting having the Appraisal District guy offer me a reduction that was $16k more than what I was looking for.

I had everything that I could do to choke out "Done" as a response.

DS & DIW invited us for a belated Mother's Day dinner. DIW spent all day preparing and cooking and even bought a gift for DW. I don't know who is more lucky. DS or us for having a nice DIW.

Several posters have noted in here that happiness generally equates to better health ("other things being equal" - e.g., genetically-based diseases, and of course YMMV). And many have mused that the "simple things" (e.g., sunsets, walks in the great outdoors) now mean more to them than material things, and that these "simple things" mean more to them as they age.

However - one poster, interestingly enough, pointed out, "Then why do we have a 'pet peeve of the day' page in here but not a 'happy moments' page?" Good question, and one that I want to address. If happiness generally equates to better health, then we should enjoy and pass on our happy moments - right? Maybe readers can also smile at our happy moments and maintain or improve their health. I'm hoping so.

So with that in mind, what was your happiest moment today?

I'll start. My happiest moment yesterday was when I got to the hotel last night and relished that fact that I'm that much closer to my last hour of w*rk before retirement (which will be Monday at 9:00 - out-processing from the military!).

We had a happiest moment of the day for a long weekend, spending time with our oldest son (and other relatives) in Texas for Mothers Day and then his birthday. Then, it being a "milestone" birthday for him, we gave him a large gift, which shocked him to happy tears.
