What was your happiest moment today?

DW and I played exceptional golf today. She and I both shot well below our handicap. Made us both happy. Synchronized happiness.

Not to worry. It gave us a bit of mystery to contemplate in our otherwise drab, wretched lives. ;) :2funny:

My guess was "Daughter In Waiting" but that was a stretch.

Carry on...
I had the exact same thought.

With a $32/mo "base fee". mine will never be that low
Yeah, over the years, we've done it all in the saving energy department (CFLs then LEDs), Most efficient fridge - then even more efficient fridge, more efficient TV (tube replaced with flat screen, then efficient flat screen). And STILL, our electric bill runs about the same. Rates and base fees just keep going up. We can't get ahead of it.

Trail restrictions just lifted for the season here for mountain biking and hiking, so I took a nice long ride.

After reaching the top of a ridge, I was treated to views of snow capped peaks in every direction.

I've been gradually getting rid of things I won't need when I move into a retirement community next year. A friend in my church who deals with multiple health issues (spent years in a mental institution during the prime years of her life because they didn't have the meds for bipolar disorder, now on disability) posted on FB asking if anyone had a recliner she could have. I have two and may keep the one but certainly didn't need the other. She got some friends with a truck to pick it up. She'd insisted she'd pay them but I paid them anyway- I know she's having a hard time financially as well.

So happy to pare down and help a friend at the same time.

And so much better than trying to sell something used. Feels so much better than a few dollars. Blessings.

Sipping bourbon while sitting in my screen porch having just returned from a 2 mile walk, icing my knee as im 3 months post op from a knee replacement, listening to Dessert Solitare and reminiscing about our recent trip to Arches, among other parks, each with stunning views, when a bald eagle landed in the locust tree in my yard to eat a bunker.

How in the hell did I get so lucky?

Had early morning coffee with DH, found a cozy little mom and pop shop nearby.
Nice group of same age/older gentlemen also there, one had a beautiful 1949 Ford that he drove. Not a spec of dirt on that baby!
We had a good visit

DS just called. He passed his actuarial exam- his 4th. This is a Big Deal. Pass ratios run 40-50%. He started 3 years ago after being in Claims for 10 years and he and DDIL have 3 kids who are now 11, 8 and 5. There are 10 of them, given every 6 months, but you reach Associateship at 7 exams, and he may stop there. I finished them all before I had him at age 31 so he's in a completely different place. I am so proud of him! I give credit to the family, too. You can't do it without an understanding family.

Helped a kid 20 yrs younger than me fix his car. He had his flashers on in my neighborhood but I didn't recognize the car.

Stopped on my way back from picking girls up at daycare as I saw his serpentine belt in the road.

A trip to O'reily and my house for a 14mm and he was on his way. He was inspired by our neighborhood and way of life.

I told him to read "The Millionaire Next Door" as that book inspired me when I was his age.

It made me happy having someone listen to my nuggets of wisdom that I myself had been mentored.

Love that free popcorn. Its one of the reasons I don't complain about wife getting bird food there when it's on sale.
I picked up more popcorn at Ace again today. Better-half said she needed a few bags of tree bark.

However, my highlight was running into a client out in the community this morning. Although there was a staff member nearby to ensure they were making good choices, the client was shopping for groceries fully independently. We chatted for a bit and it was wonderful to talk to the client about their meal planning for the week. As the president of a non-profit dedicated to full community integration for our clients, my emotions swell anytime I see our organization meeting the mission.

I got my steroid shots in my lower back this afternoon. That means I'll likely have a relatively pain free flight(s) to the mainland next week. For one to two months, the relief will (hopefully) free me to do what I want to do with family and friends. Last round lasted longer than the first round - so I'm hopeful for more relief.

Good luck!!

I put my 2-year-old smartphone on eBay. I must have listed it very cheap. It sold within minutes of the posting. (This was made possible because Verizon offered me a new phone for free and even paid for the remaining $60 I still needed to pay for the old phone.)
