What We're Making

Update on the kayak. Some kayak builders told to wait until it's above 70° of fiberglass and epoxy the kayak. It's over 90 so I figured that now is the time.

I been waiting for you to post that process in the kayak build. That looks great!!! Thanks for sharing and a very interesting project.

More of a utility make. Had to copy a YouTuber for a way to spray 4 solid core doors, 2 sides, 2 coats. Seems to work for the most part. Have 2 sets of them to knock out.

A client wanted to add the drawer to the mud room and match the doors of the lockers & alignment too. Also filled the locker door holes for new pulls TBD.

That sure is a beauty!!!

I want to go down the Yellowstone this fall yet. River is very low from a dry year and under normal run off this year.

Thanks! Our lake is about normal. We have had above average rainfall this year, but our lake has 2 outlet structures that control the elevation fairly constant.

A client wanted to reduce the cost of his deck by helping me. Never done this, but he was surprisingly good with his hands. He took off a day of work (silicone valley startup). End of the day, he asked about my work and schedule so I gave him some coast fire preaching...

Back in 6 weeks to stain / seal.

Almost done with the 5 drawer floating vanity for DD's remodel. Rift sawn white oak with a book match 4pk of drawers. The 5th one is an internal one below the P-trap area. Sprayed with lacquer.

Used all the scraps of white oak...

Awesome! I’m sure you will get a lot of satisfaction whenever you’re on the water, knowing that you built it yourself.

Finished the kayak, let the varnish cure a week, and threw it in the lake to see if it floats. DW was concentrating more on a spider than on filming. Maiden voyage in a day or 2.

That's quite nice work, Ron. It reminds me of some of the classic cars I restored over the years and put very expensive paint work on. Afraid to drive the car for fear of paint damage!
