Looks great Ron. I didn’t realize that Route 66 went all the way to Uranus, I must have missed that exit.
Thanks - The Jet air cleaner works great. I have to change filters daily on days when I'm making stuff. And I still have to vacuum surfaces though.Nice table, shop, canoe! How well does your Jet filtration system work? Does it grab most of the junk floating in the air?
Thanks - Yes Uranus exists. Somewhere in Missouri. Not a town, but a tourist attraction whose claim is "the best fudge comes from Uranus"Looks great Ron. I didn’t realize that Route 66 went all the way to Uranus, I must have missed that exit.
Unless there’s two of them, that’s in Indiana. Never stopped but seen that exact sign every time I’d go visit my dad on my drive from MI to MO.Thanks - Yes Uranus exists. Somewhere in Missouri. Not a town, but a tourist attraction whose claim is "the best fudge comes from Uranus"
Yep there’s 2 of them. Just became aware of the Indiana Uranus recently. I haven’t been there, but I recently saw info on it online.Unless there’s two of them, that’s in Indiana. Never stopped but seen that exact sign every time I’d go visit my dad on my drive from MI to MO.
Good to see you back, Dave. We've missed you.Haven't been back to this forum in a long time, (5 or 6 years?) but great to see this thread I started in 2015 still getting some posts. Some amazing skills on display!
Thanks. All the specific dimensions were very important to really working. The front shelving units are on an aluminum I beam and are very heavy as the backs are 3/4" ply for strength.Looks great, I’m sure that was a very complicated build!
Thanks.Nice looking built-in Murphy bed. Is the bed easy to put away? Is it spring assisted?
Surprisingly they are very smooth and do not tilt any. They have small rollers on the back-bottom that rolls along the trim. The fit of the upper rollers are very tight in the I-beam & very smooth. That looks great but 1 question. When those open shelves are loaded what will keep the contents in? Are you going to put doors on them?
Looks good! How did you attach legs to the top?BIL's neighbor tore down a barn. BIL brought me some boards when they came for Thanksgiving. I whipped up a simple entry table. I lightly sanded it and finished with wax.
DW originally said no barn wood in rooms controlled by her. But she's allowing this to stay so far.
Thanks - top has 1.5” deep mortises that the legs extend into. Then each leg is pegged with 3 - 6” long dowels through the sides of the top, through the tops of the legs. Top dowels are barely visible in the pic along the front of the top.Looks good! How did you attach legs to the top?
Like the saw mill texture. Would have never noticed the dowels if you didn’t mention them. Nice job. Thanks - top has 1.5” deep mortises that the legs extend into. Thanks, planning on a satin lacquer and farm style simple base. Keep you posted.Very nice! Grain centering looks great! Can't wait to see what you do for legs and finish.
Nice technique, how do you finish the plywood edges on a curved top?A buddy who manages a high end cabinet shop sold some leftover materials. Rift sawn white oak plywood for $25/sheet. Making an affordable table for a client and the elongated circle shape turned out pretty well. Managed to get the grain pretty much centered on the top...
