What We're Making

Santa’s elves are starting to roll out gifts from my workshop. Little jewelry boxes for 2 of the grandnieces.

Wow! Beautiful Ronstar. I have been so busy with so many other things I have fallen away from wood working.

What talent and quality of work you have. Thanks for sharing your work and what a gift to treasure for life, for those girls.

Thanks street - You've been doing some woodworking - just on a bigger scale. Your cabin is a work of art!

After the post on less thick endgrain butcher block, I took a whirl of ~1" thick maple and running through the planer. Turned out fine.

Also got on an organization binge this morning under the vanity. Added a small power supply to the inner drawer.

Good to know that planing an end grain does not mean disaster!

Very nice work Ronstar.

Nice box Ron, great combination of woods. The grain on the Granadillo is beautiful. I have never seen that species at my wood suppliers.

Thanks Fotodog. I got the Granadillo at Woodworkers Source in Phoenix. They have a good supply of exotic hardwoods. I need to take a road trip there because I’m almost out of wood.

Thanks... It was a fun challenge for me. Lots of "built" tendons by stacking 3 pcs in the base. Made it all pretty tight fitting with minimal exposed / covered fasteners.

My brother and I built a work platform for the telehandler out of some 6" channel from the bridge job I did years ago, and odds and ends I had, some schedule 40 steel pipe. The only picture I have is this early one. It now has safety rail on 3 sides. We built it on the trailer so we did not have to pick it up.

It's a trapezoid to make up for the lack of a swing carriage on the forklift. I can angle up to walls and present a nice straight side that way, when I don't have room to get square.
