What We're Making

I took some wood that came as the pallet for the sauna kit, ran it through the jointer, glued it up and managed to get 3 little "not too ugly" shelves made. Today I fastened them on the wall.

I'm going to put in an outlet near the switch so I can plug in my phone. The switch turns on powered speakers in this room and the sauna, and turns on the Bluetooth receiver.

That's a great looking chair and very creative of you to make it. I wish I had that skill (working with wood). (y)

Nice job Ronstar on those creations.

More final assembly than making, but two guitar kits I’ve done, a 12 string Strat style, and a 1960 Les Paul Jr. With a little overdrive, that LP Jr has a nice snarl.

Next to it is a 5w class A amp I got from the dust bin at Guitar Center. Five watts is way louder than one would think. Luckily it has a 1w and 0.5w attenuator built in.

Thanks - I also got 4 knife blanks to add handles to. got 2 done - bocote and I think spalted maple, hackberry, or sycamore. Other 2 will be mesquite I just picked up in Az. Then I’ll gift the box with 1 knife.

Someday I may attempt a knife from scratch as you do.

ENORMOUSLY impressed! Nothing I admire more than precision craftsmanship. Bravo.

Building raised-bed garden shelter for the bride. She's been battling squirrels, rabbits, deer, birds, etc for edibles. In summer we can cover this with the deer screen, and in the winter, make it a greenhouse with plastic. It's going to require me moving about 1 cubic yard of dirt from the middle (walkway) to the sides because it's going to be cut into the hill. Got the one end assembled and stood up today.

Later this summer we will be able to enjoy those $14 each tomatoes (allocating the price of the shelter) :D

Excellent! You can serve them with the $60 fish, if you're a fisherman.

I got ya beat on the $14 tomatoes. With the wooden dog ear fence around a 20x40 garden, a 10x8 greenhouse, 5 raised beds, a solar powered watering system, we have planted over 50 tomato plants every year for at least 15 years. And I can't stand a fresh tomato! I'll eat anything that has cooked tomatoes, but a fresh tomato will make me hurl. The only way I can eat a fresh tomato is in salsa.

On the home stretch of adding the pantry cabinet w/drawers. Also refreshed the rest with paint and new pulls. The top drawer is a double one. Waiting for the rest of the pulls to finish up.

Sorry for the redundancy to what did you do today posts. Should really be over here...

Nice! Looks like fun to build. Will you have irrigation or are you fortunate to live where it rains enough?

I built one for my bride and connected it to our sprinkler system. We don't get enough rain. It is nice that it gets watered when we are on our summer trips. I had to build a 4' fence around ours to keep the dog out. The $14 tomatoes are worth it.

Last summer I added a janky watering thing for her Greenstalk Garden thing. In the photo, the brown quarter inch tube goes 50 feet to her Greenstalk. At the time, I considered doing a legit new hose bib, but decided to skirt the issue. This year, I'm considering putting a hose bib in the raised bed enclosure. She hasn't asked for water yet, but after a million trips with the watering can, I'm sure that request will come.

Got rained-out today, but ready to start digging tomorrow!

Nine days from sitting down to design it to having plants in the ground. And that was with a few "rain delays." If you're interested in wasting 10 minutes of your time, I did a slideshow.
